Can't Maw just crumple him up in that armor? I assume he couldn't in IW because it was made from nanites.

Edit: Although, a bullet to the head would probably kill Ebony since he's such a glass cannon.

But the OP dictates that both characters will be in character, and when has Iron Man used guns in a 1v1 setting, in character?

You even said it was 1v8. And it was a hostage situation and not in the midst of combat. Thus, it is OOC for Iron Man to use guns against Ebony Maw, in a 1v1 combat setting

@gearsecond659: I was kind of being sarcastic because I don't think it makes a difference if it's 1v8 or 1v1 if he's willing to kill. My point is, he seems to be fine with killing, not just because there's hostages, since he also killed that tank driver with a rocket, which wasn't a hostage situation.

Didn't he also kill most of those guys in the cave when he escaped in Iron Man 1?

Also, I'm totally playing devil's advocate, as I think Maw should win this, but somewhat interested to see where this goes.

Maw could probably crush him inside the suit tbh he restrained Thor with space metal albeit an exhausted Thor according to the Russo's.

@texasdeathmatch: just because he is willling to kill doesn't mean he is willing to use a method he has never used in character.

@gearsecond659: Totally. But if somehow Tony used that as a last resort, he does have the potential to one shot Ebony. We've never seen him use those hidden shoulder pistols outside of that hostage scene since most of his opponents are bulletproof.

What did Tony do in IW that puts him above pre IW Tony?

I see Maw winning. Then again, all Tony has to do is get lucky with a missile or something.

Maw would probably beat every Avenger not named Thor or Hulk. Even then, he might be able to win. The battle of New York showed him completely outclass some of the strongest Avengers INCLUDING A BETTER IRON MAN.

Apart from the ability to create new weapons and the regen the IW armour was no better than others in terms of stats.

I just don't see Tony winning this without getting ragdolled or buried and then ripped apart.

Can't Tony just shoot Maw in the head with his AI targeting system. Tony regularly shoots people in character. He also has tank buster missiles in his gauntlet and laser beam powerful enough to melt metal instantly.

I don't see Maw winning this. Maw is a glass Canon. Impressive TK but still a glass Canon.

Ebony Maw's TK is gonna trump pretty much all of Iron Man's arsenal.

Iron Man. His durability is very high since he was hit by a jet mid air and then took a tank shot to the face and yet absolutely got up without any damage.

Maw will try to kill him without giving everything at first and when Tony realizes what this guy can do it's over for Maw since Tony has multiple powerful missiles and an AI targeting system.

I think Maw will underestimate Tony since he did so when they met in New York.
