Po: The Dragon Warrior

"There is no charge for awesomeness...Or attractiveness."

Bio

As a small child Po was abandoned by his parents who were forced to by the peacock Lord Shen, who attacked and attempted to destroy Panda village. He was then found by a goose named Mr. Ping and adopted. He spent his early years living with Ping and helping him run his noodle restaurant. But when Po was trying to watch the ceremony of the selection of the dragon warrior he was ultimately picked. Po then went under the tutelage of Master Shifu and became a master of martial arts. He fought his way through many challenges, he defeated Tai Lung, Shifu's former student, vanquished Lord Shen, the Peacock who destroyed his family. Finally, he faced off against Kai, the soul-stealing spirit warrior, and he unlocked his true potential as the Dragon Warrior and becoming the greatest Kung Fu master of all time.

Damage Output

Instead of simply labeling this section "strength" I've labeled it as damage output because, despite how he looks, Po is actually incredibly versatile, and has many different ways to put the hurt on Fat Cobra. I will start out simply, with strength. I will start out with some low-end showings.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

One: Po launches an iron Wok so hard into Tai Lung's face that it dents it heavily, displaying his features. (Kung Fu Panda) Two: With a fairly casual butt-bump Po sends a fully armored Wolf mook flying 50 or so feet, and he wouldn't have stopped if it hadn't been for the Gong. (Kung Fu Panda 2) Three: Here Po sends a dozen or so Wolf mooks flying with his rapid-fire kicks, we even see some soaring a hundred+ feet. (Kung Fu Panda 2)

IIRC Corba's best blunt force feat is tanking hits from the Iron Fist, with a decent amount of damage, and so whilst I doubt that the feats displayed above stack up to this crazy high level, I assure you that Po can do far better:

Kung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda

A casual butt slam/bump/hit from Po launches Tai Lung hundreds of feet, down several blocks, and ultimately clean through a thick concrete wall. I would say that a hit like this is certainly comparable to the average blow from Danny's Iron Fist, though obviously, Danny's high ends are well above this, but Po has high ends too.

Kung Fu Panda 3Kung Fu Panda 3
Kung Fu Panda 3

When in full Dragon warrior mode Po pulls Kai through several huge stone boulders without losing any momentum and finally smashes Kai down around into a massive large-building sized rock so hard that he shatters it. Very few of Danny's feats are as impressive and slamming someone into a building+ sized rock hard enough to destroy. Yet Po does this without any struggle at all, even with a smile on his face. But this still isn't his absolute best:

Kung Fu PandaKung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda

Here, in a downright ridiculous showing of strength, the Drage Warrior body slams Tai Lung so hard that he flies past cloud level in only about two seconds, keep in mind that the average clouds reside around 13250 feet which means that Po sent Tai Lung at speeds around Mach 5 and several miles up. This should be more or less equal to the Iron Fist's best high-end feats.

So it should be safe to assume that Po can damage Cobra through raw physical strength/striking power alone, though he has plenty of other options to do damage. He could certainly use Cobra's force against him, just like he did to Tai Lung.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3
Kung Fu Panda

As you can clearly see Po is adept at using the force that is opponents apply to him as a weapon, using the force from Tai Lung's strikes to manipulate his environment, using Tai's blows to ping-pong off walls and straight back into him, and even outright absorbing and redirecting his attacks back into him. Po already has the physicals to hurt Fat Cobra, but it doesn't help that all of Cobra's hits are also weapons that Po can use to his advantage.

And now to the most devastating member of Po's offensive arsenal, the Wuxi finger hold. Now you wouldn't think that the cute fat Panda voiced by Jack Black in a PG kids movies would have a vicious one shot kill weapon now, would you? But Po actually does, the Wuxi finger hold is a technique that allows the user to instantly obliterate their enemy and send them to the spirit realm (the after-life in the KFP-verse). We see Po use this technique against Tai Lung effectively:

Kung Fu PandaKung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda

And Tai Lung honestly has better quantifiable durability feats that Fat Cobra, as he tanking all the hits and damage from Po that I've displayed above, thus the Wuxi finger hold will certainly work on him too. So if Po manages to stun or distract Fat Cobra for even a second or so Po could easily end the fight right there.

Durability

Po is a tank, a monster of a tank, I would contest that he is the biggest tank here by a good margin, in fact, Fat Cobra's best striking feat is taking out Danny if a few punches (IIRC), and don't get me wrong, that is impressive, but IF doesn't have jack on Po when it comes to durability:

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7

One: Po gets launched at hundreds of miles an hour straight into a thick stone wall, and he totally no sells it, without even expressing pain. (Kung Fu Panda) Two: Tai and Po fall dozens of feet clean through the roof of a temple, Po then bounces down the block, smashing through everything in his path, and when he finally lands he gets up like nothing happened. (Kung Fu Panda) Three, Four, Five, & Six: Tai Lung beats Po around, rag-dolling him dozens of feet, even spike kicking him into the ground at insane speeds, yet Po effectively no-sells all of this damage. What makes this so impressive is the fact that Tai can casually building bust with a single blow. So no selling dozens of blows from a pissed off building buster is pretty insane. (Kung Fu Panda) Seven: Here Po goes beyond no selling though, not only does he not receive an iota of damage from Tai's huge blow, but he casually redirects it. As we see the attack Tai landed was very powerful, as it launched him 40+ feet and clean through a large stone arch without even slowing him down. (Kung Fu Panda) But all of this is still on the lower end for Po:

Kung Fu Panda 3Kung Fu Panda 3
Kung Fu Panda 3

(Sorry about the health-bars on top, it was the only good quality video of the fight.) As you can see Kai kicks Po with enormous force, creating a large shockwave and sending the Dragon Warrior flying hundreds upon hundreds of feet clean through a huge stone/tile archway and then for 50 or so feet afterward. Yet even after a pounding like that Po gets back up and is still able to fight on without hindrance or injury. I don't believe that Fat Cobra has ever hit this hard, but even if he has Po has a plethora of other crazy good feats.

Kung Fu Panda 2Kung Fu Panda 2
Kung Fu Panda 2

With the help of Mantis Tigress hurls herself at Po, landing a massive and brutal hit on him that creates a multi-building level shockwave and sends him flying at supersonic speeds. A hit like that is certainly above anything that Far Cobra has ever accomplished, yet Po completely and utterly no sold it. But Po has a couple of feats that are even better:

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

One: Tai Lung slams down on Po, delivering a massive, massive hit, so powerful that it creates a large crater, has a multi-building level explosion, and shakes several blocks, yet Po remains conscious and he gets back up to fight only about 15 seconds later with no problem at all. (Kung Fu Panda) Two: Po's best durability feat by far comes from his final battle against Kai, his most dangerous opponents, in it we see Kai pull a huge (here is the screenshot that indicates its size, a circled Po in red to give something to scale it to) piece of rock into Po at high speeds, and he then proceeds to punch Po clean through it, destroying the rock and stopping its momentum. What makes this feat so insane isn't the fact Kai destroyed the rock, which is absolutely a great feat, but the fact that the blow stopped it dead in its tracks, matching and overpowering its momentum. Keep in mind that this was a 10,000-20,000 ton rock at least, and it was moving at dozens of miles per hour, yet one hit from Kai stops it dead. And Po tanked that blows without any damage at all. This means that Fat Cobra will have a damn near impossible time of putting Po down with blunt force alone. (Kung Fu Panda 3)

Now that I've established Po's resistance against blunt force attacks is so insanely high I think it's worth displaying that the Dragon Warrior's energy durability is also off the charts since Fat Cobra does have electrokinesis, which allows him to project powerful blasts of lightning. But I'm confident that Po can tank said blasts when things like this hardly phase him:

Kung Fu Panda 2Kung Fu Panda 2
Kung Fu Panda 2

Here Po tanks an explosion that obliterates dozens of ships and a large footbridge has a block-level radius, and that sends him flying many hundreds of feet away. Po was the only person to remain conscious after this blast, and he seemed relatively unharmed. I don't think that Far Cobra's lightning as potency even remotely close to this. So Far Cobra will struggle greatly to do any damage with his lightning too.

Speed & Mobility

Now, this is one category where I am sure Po is destined to be lowballed, obviously based on his physical appearance he looks extremely slow, but his speed is actually pretty insane, to believe it or not. For starters, let's examine his sparring match against Shifu where he fully unlocks his Kung Fu powers to try to get the last dumpling in the bowl:

Kung Fu PandaKung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda

As you can clearly see Po matches Shifu blow for blow and ends up outmaneuvering him to get the last dumpling, and while Shifu obviously wasn't going all out he was still using his speed to a pretty insane degree. He was moving at FTE speeds to intercept dumplings, and he even moved at superhuman speeds in intense slow motion. These feats should solidly put Shifu on Iron Fist's/Far Cobra's level, at least in terms of combat speed. But Po has actually outmaneuvered and out-sped people who are even faster than Shifu:

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3
Kung Fu Panda

As you can see Po dodges all of Tai Lung's blows, uses his own tail to intercept his blitzes and lands plenty of attacks, even reacting to Tai's final blitz in epic fashion. It's clear that Po is far more skilled and can keep up with, and even outmaneuver Tai, though the speed gap certainly isn't big. What makes this so impressive is the fact that Tai showed far superior speed to Shifu. Shifu failed to react to his blitz completely, and only managed to comprehend what was happening until it was far too late, and even when Shifu was trying to dodge Tai, and even though he got a head start, Tai still outsped him and ultimately blitzed him through the roof of the temple. And at the beginning of the same fight, Tai actually performed a pretty impressive FTE speed feat. So in terms of combat speed, it's clear that Po can casually keep up with, and even outperform people with insane speed. But Po actually also has phenomenal reaction speed as well.

Loading Video...

-Kung Fu Panda 2

In this epic scene, we see Po finally achieve inner peace, and do to so he catches and dodges dozens of Shen's cannonballs explicitly after they've been fired. Keep in mind that even ordinary cannonballs are shot at speeds faster than sound:

No Caption ProvidedNo Caption Provided

-Source

As you can clearly see out of all of these many different cannonball variations the only thing they all have in common is that they all move faster than the speed of sound, which is 1125.33 feet per second. And these cannons were far more powerful than the regular ones. I already showed a single shot from one of them producing a block level explosion and destroying dozens of ships in a single blast. I don't even think I need to explain why that is so far above anything a regular cannon has ever done. So anyway this should solidly prove that Po has the reaction speed to hang with Fat Corba too. But Po really shines in terms of maneuverability, reach advantage, and sheer movement speed:

Kung Fu Panda 3Kung Fu Panda 3
Kung Fu Panda 3

As you can see when in full Dragon Warrior mode Po has insane speed/maneuverability, he flies at hundreds of miles per hour flipping and wrapping around complex rock formations without even slowing down, not to mention the fact that if Po every starts getting overwhelmed (which I doubt will happen) he could easily use his flight to escape Fat Cobra in a second. But let's see how Po uses these powers offensively:

Kung Fu Panda 3Kung Fu Panda 3
Kung Fu Panda 3

Using his maneuverability, and speed Po humiliates Kai, a physical monster who outskilled Oogway and wrecked Shifu and the Furious Five at the same time. Yet he can't even contend with Po in his dragon form. I don't see why Far Cobra would be different. But I haven't even gotten into the reach advantage yet:

Kung Fu Panda 3Kung Fu Panda 3
Kung Fu Panda 3

This is another large advantage that Po has, the fact of the matter is that he can engage Fat Corba in CQC from many dozens of feet away, and Cobra can't actually hit him directly, he can only make contact with his dragon form. So Corba will struggle just to get close enough to hit Po in H2H, meanwhile, Po will be pummeling him from dozens of feet away.

Skill

This will undoubtedly be one of the most contested areas of this debate, and while Cobra is an absolute master martial artist, so is Po, and this is not as one-sided as many may think it is. Let's start out simple:

Kung Fu PandaKung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda

As I've already shown, here Po outskills and outmaneuvers Shifu in a training session. Now while Shifu wouldn't be going all out since he was only trying to train Po, even whilst holding back in training Shifu is still absurdly skilled. During a sparring match with the Furious Five, her wrecks them all in only 5 seconds flat. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that they surprise attacked him, whereas Shifu was totally ready for Po. And the Furious Five are all Kung Fu Masters in their own right, so this makes Po's feat crazy good, but he has better:

Loading Video...

-Kung Fu Panda

As you can see here Tai Lung actually outskills and defeats Shifu, not in a training session, but in a fight to the death where both were fighting to the best of their abilities. And yet this is what happens when Po becomes the Dragon Warrior and takes on Tai Lung:

Loading Video...

-Kung Fu Panda

As you can see Po actually stomps Tai, Tai fails to land a single hit and Po lands 10 successful blows, using Tai's tail against him, rag-dolling him around, and ultimately just outright pulverizing him. And Tai has highly impressive skill feats besides beating master Shifu, such as taking on and curbstomping hordes upon hordes or Rhinos in H2H:

Loading Video...

I counted about 60 guards that he took down in total, though there were a few more that weren't in the GIF, and he did all that in way less than half a minute (a ton of slo-mo was used) with no difficulty at all. So stomping him in skill is an is an extremely impressive skill feat, and I think that is should be enough, for this post at least, to prove that the Dragon Warrior can absolutely hang with Cobra in H2H skill. This coupled with his mobility/reach and physical advantages should lock in the win for Po.

Conclusion

Damage Output

  • Po is strong enough to put the hurt on Far Cobra with singular strikes fairly casually.

  • He can absorb Cobra's attacks and use them to his advantage.

  • The Wuxi finger hold is an instant one-shot weapon, and if Po manages to tag FC with it it's game over.

Durability

  • Po is totally resistant to most blunt force attacks and can tank multi-building level-block level hits with minimal damage.

  • His durability allows him to use Far Cobra's blunt force attacks against him.

  • His energy durability is crazy, crazy good, and I don't see Fat Cobra's electrokinesis having a massive effect on him.

Speed & Mobility

  • Po has good enough combat speed to match and outmaneuver beings who casually cruise at FTE speeds, and Cobra certainly doesn't move faster than FTE speeds ever, so Po will keep up in combat.

  • As for reaction Po can casually catch and intercept bullet speed+ canon balls, which actually puts him above many street levelers since it's much harder to dodge a large ball than it is to dodge an inch long bullet.

  • Po's mobility, reach, and movement speed are what give him the edge in this category, they will allow him to escape most of Cobra's attacks and do plenty of damage from a comfortable distance.

Skill

  • Po can outskill the top tier fighters in his verse, guys who can curbstomp teams of master martial artists and guys who can solo stomp entire armies in seconds. So Po should certainly be able to match Cobra/hold his own in this category.

Po wins due to all the factors explained above.

@_kingoflatveria: @warlockmage: @major_hellstrom: Yeah, he's off the tone set by the other characters, but we agreed he has the feats to make this an interesting match nonetheless. He's also not totally dissimilar to Fat Cobra as they're both skilled fatties.

In this epic scene, we see Po finally achieve inner peace, and do to so he catches and dodges dozens of Shen's cannonballs explicitly after they've been fired. Keep in mind that even ordinary cannonballs are shot at speeds faster than sound:

@_kingoflatveria: @warlockmage: @major_hellstrom: Yeah, he's off the tone set by the other characters, but we agreed he has the feats to make this an interesting match nonetheless. He's also not totally dissimilar to Fat Cobra as they're both skilled fatties.

  • Po's mobility, reach, and movement speed are what give him the edge in this category, they will allow him to escape most of Cobra's attacks and do plenty of damage from a comfortable distance.

Skill

  • Po can outskill the top tier fighters in his verse, guys who can curbstomp teams of master martial artists and guys who can solo stomp entire armies in seconds. So Po should certainly be able to match Cobra/hold his own in this category.

Po wins due to all the factors explained above.

But when Po was trying to watch the ceremony of the selection of the dragon warrior he was ultimately picked. Po then went under the tutelage of Master Shifu and became a master of martial arts.

@_kingoflatveria: @warlockmage: @major_hellstrom: Yeah, he's off the tone set by the other characters, but we agreed he has the feats to make this an interesting match nonetheless. He's also not totally dissimilar to Fat Cobra as they're both skilled fatties.

Po: The Dragon Warrior

Using his maneuverability, and speed Po humiliates Kai, a physical monster who outskilled Oogway and wrecked Shifu and the Furious Five at the same time. Yet he can't even contend with Po in his dragon form. I don't see why Far Cobra would be different. But I haven't even gotten into the reach advantage yet:

This is another large advantage that Po has, the fact of the matter is that he can engage Fat Corba in CQC from many dozens of feet away, and Cobra can't actually hit him directly, he can only make contact with his dragon form. So Corba will struggle just to get close enough to hit Po in H2H, meanwhile, Po will be pummeling him from dozens of feet away.

Skill

This will undoubtedly be one of the most contested areas of this debate, and while Cobra is an absolute master martial artist, so is Po, and this is not as one-sided as many may think it is. Let's start out simple:

As I've already shown, here Po outskills and outmaneuvers Shifu in a training session. Now while Shifu wouldn't be going all out since he was only trying to train Po, even whilst holding back in training Shifu is still absurdly skilled. During a sparring match with the Furious Five, her wrecks them all in only 5 seconds flat. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that they surprise attacked him, whereas Shifu was totally ready for Po. And the Furious Five are all Kung Fu Masters in their own right, so this makes Po's feat crazy good, but he has better:

As you can see here Tai Lung actually outskills and defeats Shifu, not in a training session, but in a fight to the death where both were fighting to the best of their abilities. And yet this is what happens when Po becomes the Dragon Warrior and takes on Tai Lung:

As you can see Po actually stomps Tai, Tai fails to land a single hit and Po lands 10 successful blows, using Tai's tail against him, rag-dolling him around, and ultimately just outright pulverizing him. And Tai has highly impressive skill feats besides beating master Shifu, such as taking on and curbstomping hordes upon hordes or Rhinos in H2H:
