I don't think Tokuga has enough feats yet. If we assume that he really beat up Korra that easily, he probably wins, but it looked to me like he only was able to exploit the opening because Korra was enraged.

"Blitzing" Mako is a pretty good feat, and could quite possibly put him > Suki, but I'm not sure if that's enough, especially as Suki should beat Mako pretty easily in CQC as well, and beating Mako due to speed =/= beating a slightly faster and mire skilled opponent than Mako.

The agility he showed against the Crystals was pretty cool, but not better than Suki's Boiling Rock Showing iirc. Is there anything else I'm missing?

I think him taking down Korra like that (who wasn't really down, he just landed a hit) was in part due to her mindset, but he's also essentially enhanced now, so he should be very fast

Just gonna copy what I posted in my other Tokuga thread here

Guy started out as a very skilled nonbender, with both hook-sword mastery and chi blocking

Viper's the waterbending triad leader we've seen a bit of, got stomped by Korra, was beating Mako in their S2 fight-granted it was at night and in a boat surrounded by water

Solo'ed a squad of earthbenders, who were beating his own squad of Triple Threats
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4
Beat Mako, admittedly Mako's injured in this fight and Tokuga took advantage of that

At the end of the first comic, he got mutated by a spirit, left him disfigured, but also enhanced

Gave him a tentacle too, which does kinda interfere with his dual hook swords, and probably chi blocking, but has other uses too

Was able to go toe to toe with Korra for a bit, admittedly Korra might've been unfocused by Asami being in danger. She got right back up from being slammed, but for a non-bender going up against the Avatar, still impressive imo

Admittedly he doesn't have a ton of feats to go on, but he's basically the first non-bending superhuman I can think of that we've seen in Avatar, and even before that his versatile skillset made him arguably one of the most dangerous nonbenders

Even if Tokuga does have a speed edge through his enhansments - which I don't we've seen enough yet to base it on, given Suki's accomplishments on that - Suki is more than skilled enough to take him down. As of now, he's just a mix of different fighting styles with decent showings on each one (chi blocking, hook swords, throwing knives).

It doesn't really stack up to Suki's fight against Ty Lee or the whole prison escape scene. Or her skill showings with the fans and her fight with Azula too, though Tokuga should be able to give her somewhat of a fight based on his feats against benders.

Well he's definitely faster, and tbh, now that he's even faster by direct statement, he is definitely on Suki's level - not sure if I'd put him above however.

I'm not sure if I'd put him above Mako overall just yet either. We know his injury hinders him a lot from fighting at 100%, he's got much better feats of power than decent fire blasts, so maybe he could handle him at full health, although I doubt that's going to happen, and I'm sensing Tokuga's going to get better showings in the last issue.

Meh, he didn't really do anything other than dodging an air blast and grabbing her in close quarters - Suki's better than Korra up close. And she's at least as agile and quick as Tokuga, no reason why she couldn't do even more than that.

Take away Korra's high end airbending moves and put her in a place without water, and I'd say Suki can definitely take a majority over her, let alone just keep up with her in a decent manner, like Tokuga. It's a pretty impressive showing, esspecially regarding Korra's physicals, but I don't think it puts him on that level.

@arcus1: We would have, if it wasn't for me already having represented Suki (which didn't go that well, but hey)

But I guess an official Avatar debate between us could be of utmost importance, but if it's Suki and Korra I'd rather it not be a 1 on 1 (some other bender, like Mako or Bolin or Zuko, and Ty Lee or May prolly, been wanting to do a bender vs non-bender team matchup for like a year now).

Add that to the list of future CaV ideas I guess lol

There was no reason why Korra didn't stomp Tokuga right than and there. It's the same plot armor the equalists had in the beginning, of which he is a shameless rehash/amalgamation of the equalists and dark spirits.

It's not like the fighters are always gonna fight at their best, Korra could stomp Tokuga with her best airbending, but she was still emotionally unstable and it's not her MO to just abuse everything she's got against weaker opponents - she seems to prefer physical conduct a lot too, esspecially with non-benders.

I know it's the usual jobbing to make the villain more threatening stuff that always happens. Just wish it was more convincing like when The Dark Spirits were introduced in Book 2 or when Azula was introduced in ATLA.

Well the tentacle does offer him some unexpected reach and versatility. He was already impressive enough just as a regular human, with one of the most versatile skillsets we've seen from a nonbender, but now he's superhumanly fast and strong. I don't see Suki having the ability to take Korra down like Tokuga did

If the fight had gone on, she would've stomped him, of that I'm sure, but I don't see a problem with what happened. He's supposed to be superhumanly fast now, and he was able to exploit the extra reach the tentacle offers him. Korra didn't have a reason to expect him to be that good

I'm still backing Suki, Tokuga proved he's better than Korra hand to hand, but Suki is too, and stalemating Ty Lee should be enough to suggest she can handle his enhansed physiology.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

Ah damn, didn't noticed that he beat up Viper. Also RIP Viper, I'm going to miss you.

But yeah, Tokuga hasn't enough feats yet, and especially not feats that would put him above other skilled non benders. But everything he did yet was done extremely casual, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's going to end up > Suki.

I don't see Suki replicating Tokuga's fight with Korra

Meh, he didn't really do anything other than dodging an air blast and grabbing her in close quarters - Suki's better than Korra up close. And she's at least as agile and quick as Tokuga, no reason why she couldn't do even more than that.

Take away Korra's high end airbending moves and put her in a place without water, and I'd say Suki can definitely take a majority over her, let alone just keep up with her in a decent manner, like Tokuga. It's a pretty impressive showing, esspecially regarding Korra's physicals, but I don't think it puts him on that level.

That so.....cause I'd definitely disagree

But I guess an official Avatar debate between us could be of utmost importance, but if it's Suki and Korra I'd rather it not be a 1 on 1 (some other bender, like Mako or Bolin or Zuko, and Ty Lee or May prolly, been wanting to do a bender vs non-bender team matchup for like a year now).

Add that to the list of future CaV ideas I guess lol

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

No Caption Provided

Viper's the waterbending triad leader we've seen a bit of, got stomped by Korra, was beating Mako in their S2 fight-granted it was at night and in a boat surrounded by water
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

No Caption Provided

I think him taking down Korra like that (who wasn't really down, he just landed a hit) was in part due to her mindset, but he's also essentially enhanced now, so he should be very fast

Just can't get over that, can you?

It wouldn't be all that hard to close the distance really.

Have we found ourselves a new CaV?

There was no reason why Korra didn't stomp Tokuga right than and there. It's the same plot armor the equalists had in the beginning, of which he is a shameless rehash/amalgamation of the equalists and dark spirits.
