Scenario

The Thing is found by agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. along with the frozen body of R.J. MacReady and Childs. They transport the bodies to a base in New York City in order for Fritz and Simmons to study the Thing. After a while Childs and MacReady wakes up thanks to the help from Fitz and Simmons but begins to freak out about "The Thing". Do to his outburst however he is locked into a room for detainment.

Coulson then visits him to interview him and find out whats going on. After hearing about it Coulson gets up and begins to walk out the door with R.J. yelling at him that he is telling the truth. Coulson looks over and says "I know thats why you are coming with me, If you were a "Thing" as you call it you would have attacked me now while we are alone"

Phil orders the place to be locked down immediately. Phil Gathers the rest of the crew so MacReady can tell them about "The Thing" and tells Fitz and Simmons about the blood test he did before. Simmons then tells MacReady that they don't have flame throwers in the base but can probably find out another way to do a test. With Mack saying "Why is it always aliens?"

Fitz tells MacReady that his friend is in the E.R. and MacReady says "I was the only 1 left" Then they hear a scream in the back ground.

RULES

"Thing" wins by assimilating or killing everybody

AOS win by killing it

In Character.

Fitz and Simmons have to find a way to tell who is a person and who is a "Thing"

Standard Gear/Equipment/Abilities

Humans can build things for weapons.

Appreciate the effort you put in to this scenario. However, the response is simple.

Thing massacres the Shield operatives.

They can't fully study what the Thing is and how to outsmart it if it is already inside their headquarters. Removing PIS, anyone would need prep or something. Or at least knowledge of it before hand. Composite Thing assimilates it's hosts from a simple touch.

It's nothing like what they've seen before. And they've seen some crazy things.

I am only on early season 3 of AoS so I may revisit this scenario, but as of now, the Thing wins easily

@slimmcl: Well the Thing is already on the compound. And it isn't stupid. It's extremely intelligent. At least if we are going by what it is supposedly able to do. Mimic the thoughts, personalities and memories of it's host.

One of the Shield should be assimilated rather soon. Just because Macready has knowledge of it, doesn't mean it will help in time. The Shield may spend too much time assuming him and Childs' are lunatics.

If he can talk them into lining up for a blood test (like in the film) then maybe they can prepare for something in time.

@slimmcl: well there are many AoS fans on here. Like, ALOT.

The problem is The Thing fans. You're likely to run into General Horror fans that enjoy the film but then you're looking at possibly receiving biased views from either side.

At least from my experience.

I have no knowledge of AoS. Would like to simply mention a couple factors to consider.

TRANSMISSION-There are two means of infection. Most people worry about a Thing beast eating them, but the bigger threat is transmission through physical contact, either directly or indirectly. The Thing is ridiculously contagious. Blairs contracts it on screen during autopsy scene, when he accidentally brushes his lip with his little prod he used to poke around its body. In other words, momentary contact with an object that touched the Thing is enough to transmit infection.

POPULATION SIZE- The more people in contact with each other, the faster the Thing spreads. The entire reason it struggled in Antarctica was because of how few people there were. They were able to easily keep track of each other to quickly identify and manage potential threats. In a larger group, the harder it becomes to identify as the number of individual prospects AND potential combinations (when more than one person is infected) increases. People are its resource, and the less people the less it has to work with.

OBJECTIVE-The Thing, in character, has two modes of operation. The second is to create confusion and distrust, utilizing the knowledge of members of the group to sabotage their tech as well as cover its own tracks with progressively increasing efficiency.

The first priority, however, is not to attack, but to locate and move to the largest population. Its primary goal was to leave Antarctica, not assimilate the teams. In the prequel, its first action after awakening (after assimilating something that knows something) was to split off and get on the helicopter, it only attacked the crew once the chopper turned around. Then, it split off again to go activate its ship with the intent of outright leaving the protagonist behind. In the original it began building a spaceship as soon as it could, almost finishing well before it had assimilated the team. As a last resort, it tried to freeze itself and the protags to await rescue, killing them because they were never its objective. The fact is it wanted to get to the mainland, only attacking the crew with secondary creatures...there was always at least one Thing working on escaping. What I'm saying is the Thing's objective won't just be to take Shield...it'll be to escape and take over the world.

If any of it gets out, Shield can very well clear their base and still maybe lose a few days later when the entire planet and probably even some superheroes just hit them like a tidal wave.

But like I said, idk AoS. They could have laser scanners in every room and anti-not-human gas in the vents.

I'd imagine Fitz and Simmons would be able to figure out a way to identify the Thing and weaponry to kill or disable it.

FitzSimmons are probably the most efficient geniuses as far as non powered live action characters go after S5.

Shield eventually.

Shield regularly identifies, and handles volatile, inhuman issues. I don't see The Thing managing to finish before FitzSimmons manage to find and destroy it.

FitzSimmons are probably the most efficient geniuses as far as non powered live action characters go after S5.

Shield eventually.

Shield regularly identifies, and handles volatile, inhuman issues. I don't see The Thing managing to finish before FitzSimmons manage to find and destroy it.
