Nakamura vs Zayn best match of the weekend.

Women's Title match follows that.

It really shows how far the women in WWE have come since last year.

Awesome podcast guys. Here's my thoughts...

- Asuka isn't a face or a heel. She's a BADASS!! Nuf Said

- The New Day match could have played out exactly as it did and still been excellent IF their opponents had been over. It's okay for New Day to lose, and they could have even lost the titles here., there's no shame in that. But it would require The League (or whoever) to be over as heels or faces in their own right.

- I thought your assessment of the Shane/Taker match was spot on.

- Funny story about the Lesnar/Ambrose match. My friend really hates Lesnar and hated this matchup, but I was telling him the whole time, "just watch, Ambrose will think of some cool way to beat him. He's positioned perfectly to win, just watch". Well, I'm an idiot. Because Ambrose lost and the match was dumb. Serves me right. :(

Your assessment of the Styles Clash is actually a pretty common misconception. I can't remember who it was (maybe Jericho?) but I listened to an interview where they discussed the dangers of the move. The person taking the bump doesn't do anything. They don't have to move their head back or forward, everything is done by the one performing the move. When people get hurt, it is usually because they moved when they weren't supposed to during the move.

Now, that isn't excusing the dangerous nature of the move of course. If the move can't be reliably done without risk of serious injury, then maybe they shouldn't do it much. I actually think instead of using it as a transitional move (as they are doing in the WWE), it should be a super finisher. He should only use it in big matches and it should always result in a pin.

In NJPW that's how it was, a Super Finisher. They did a great job of treating it like a really dangerous move that when used would almost guarantee a win. It was teased a lot but pretty rarely used.

I'm not sure WWE has the patients to do the same thing. They'll either use it too much or they'll get rid of it completely. I mean if they won't even allow the Curb Stomp...

@d9000: You're probably right. Although, we have seen some evidence that they can do something like that. Randy Orton's punt or Kane occasionally using the Tombstone are both examples of the WWE rarely utilizing a move for greater effect. I doubt they'll do that this time though. They seem perfectly content with it being a set-up move for AJ which is insane considering, as you mentioned, how effective the Styles Clash has been used elsewhere.

Finally got to listen in, first thing first, nice podcast fam. Gonna have to stake out the podcast in future… also I actually really like Baron Corbin. I can see why people aren't big on him, I personally like him because he… well he seems like a straight deconstruction of the anti-hero face, so he is a heel… and he isn't the best wrestler or speaker but he yells taunts like telling Apollo Crews to go back to TNA (which is just hilarious and crazy considering Crews hasn't been in TNA) - things like that I hope are used with him. Sort of like when Jericho calls Styles "you stupid, stupid man" on the turnbuckle (which he has been doing a few times)

Nice break down of Zayn/Nakamura. Same with Bayley/Asuka, especially - well see Asuka gets to be crazy like Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar get to be crazy. WWE often makes the woman characters crazy in the psycho ex crazy stalker bisexual wild girl crazy. The two types of crazy are very different. I really liked Joe's improvisation in his match and pushing away officials. Also his facial expressions told a great story on its own too. Loved Joes ability to transition into different moves/his submissions.

Ladder match was dope as hell. I overall enjoyed Mania mainly for it given me surprises, Ryder especially. I mean all the things I didn't care for I was expecting, all of it bar… Ambrose/Lesnar lacking. Oh, and was weird for me that Styles lost, until… following Raw. Then it made much more sense. Hah, yeah New Day entrance was great, especially awesome was that Team Four Star was shown in crowd right after. Good camera scouting. I feel like both Lesnar and Ambrose were wasted at Mania, its unfortunate.

A few weeks ago Bayley was in a video game tournament at Up Up Down Down channel (Xavier Woods channel for video games) and her entrance music was Steve Blackman's entrance theme, was great. Sasha Banks was her opponent mind you, and came out to MVP's theme) and yesssss the whole no more Diva's thing is super awesome and anther reason I enjoyed Mania, even if the two aren't necessary linked. It just put me in a good mood. Speaking of them, yeah that triple threat match was very very good. I liked they all got good moments. I wanted Becky to win, but only because have been following her career longer and I can't really buy Sasha's character even though I really like her ability/matches.

Thanks for the podcast guys.
