Screaming but I'm not telling him to give up his dreams just because he can't scream. Screaming isn't used in most music genres either so...

I would attempt to help the person discover their true talent and then encourage them in it without discouraging them in their ludicrous, ridiculous, moronic pipe dream.

Perhaps I would give the idiotic fool a book about self awareness.

All of the above, also if he's over the age of 25 or anything less than very attractive then even if he's a good singer he shouldn't consider it realistic to do anything more than sing at weddings.

Real friends don't lie to eachother, if he sucks in an area I'll tell him.

But then again real friends might tell him what he wants to hear, encourage him to go on a singing show like the X-Factor and make an ass out of himself for entertainment value. That's always a solid option.

It's not a matter of which is more important, you need both. Given that for pop style music there are thousands of people as talented as they need to be, you need some sort of appeal beyond your voice. Most often this manifests as being attractive, which is why most famous singers are attractive and the ones that aren't attractive have other sorts of appeal.

If you're less than very attractive and don't have any other obvious appeal then there's nothing to sort you from the other 100,000 people who are just as talented as you.

All of the above, also if he's over the age of 25 or anything less than very attractive then even if he's a good singer he shouldn't consider it realistic to do anything more than sing at weddings.

Gifted voice, but I wouldn't tell them.

I mean, I do tell them now, I just wouldn't tell them if they wanted to be a singer.

Real friends don't lie to eachother, if he sucks in an area I'll tell him.

But then again real friends might tell him what he wants to hear, encourage him to go on a singing show like the X-Factor and make an ass out of himself for entertainment value. That's always a solid option.

@socajunkie: there's a difference between not telling someone they suck and telling them to go embarrass themselves on an international scale.

I'd probably suggest professional vocal coaching and let them tell her she sucks.

So you mean have a pretty face are important than actually skills?

It's not a matter of which is more important, you need both. Given that for pop style music there are thousands of people as talented as they need to be, you need some sort of appeal beyond your voice. Most often this manifests as being attractive, which is why most famous singers are attractive and the ones that aren't attractive have other sorts of appeal.

If you're less than very attractive and don't have any other obvious appeal then there's nothing to sort you from the other 100,000 people who are just as talented as you.
