"I don't know what you are, or where you're from, but you just wrecked our home. There's not a chance in hell we're surrendering."
"Like I tell my classes, when one of us fails, we all fail. We were friends before, now we're more than that. We're teammates. Zordon's right. Some of us are embracing this. Some of us are taking it seriously....others are not. And eventually that's gonna get someone hurt. Maybe someone we care about. You think Rita cares if we're busy or if we're tired? You think she'll let up because we have homework? I'm sorry to say it but, if protecting all of us means I have to push you all a little harder, to stop being your friend....then so be it."
This will be my Respect Thread for Jason Lee Scott, the original Red Power Ranger and will be the version from the new 2016 and beyond comic series, which can be viewed as a reboot. Much of the same character backstory is the same with Jason joining Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly as the teenagers with attitude that Zordon picked to be his Power Rangers with Jason being the leader. The team eventually fights Rita's Green Ranger Tommy Oliver but they manage to break her spell over him and convince him to join their team. At this point, however, the story in the comic and the story in the TV show take different turns.
This thread will be divided into the following categories:
- Equipment
- Skill
- Speed
- Strength
- Durability
Equipment
Blade Blaster
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #02) A weapon that can be used normally as a blaster and then after folding out a blade, can be used as a melee weapon. Jason uses this to shoot at Scorpina when she was fighting Tommy:
Power Sword
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #05) Jason stabs a large monster in the hand with his Power Sword and causes him immense pain:
Helmet
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) Jason's helmet allows him to breathe underwater:
Communicator
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #10) Jason's communicator was upgraded by Billy to allow him to communicate with the other Rangers wherever they are and to allow them to teleport wherever they want instead of just to and from the command center:
Teleporter
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #18) Jason, like the other Rangers, can use his communicator to teleport to different places. Here's Jason and the other Rangers teleporting to a village in the Carathian Mountains:
Skill
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #01) At six in the morning before school, Jason practices his karate in the Angel Grove Youth Center:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) Trini notes that she has studied martial arts before but after she morphs, she knows moves before she does them. Jason then agrees by saying that Billy, who has no fighting prowess, turns into a lethal weapon after morphing. This suggests that being a Ranger and morphing gives you innate fighting ability, on top of what you already know and can do:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #02) Before becoming a Ranger, Jason had already been very skilled at karate, studying it since he was a little boy. He teaches a class at Angel Grove even and his own sensei told him that he has a knack for instruction:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #02) Jason uses his Power Sword to briefly clash with and fight Scorpina, Rita's second best fighter after Goldar. The fight mainly happens off-panel before Scorpina retreats:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #14) Jason helps fend off a bunch of Goldar clones with the rest of the Rangers. These clones were noted as being "improved on" from the original Goldar because they didn't have his mental shortcomings but still retained all of the original's physical skill:
Speed
(Justice League - Power Rangers Issue #01) This isn't a feat but a statement and it's from the crossover of Power Rangers and the Justice League so its Canonicity is subject to debate, but going off of the other Rangers' feats, the assessment from Batman that they are all enhanced individuals with increased speed, strength, and durability when morphed is accurate:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) In a Canon statement, Jason tells Trini that when he morphs he feels faster:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #01) Jason appears to dodge a lightning blast from Rita Repulsa:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) While testing out the limits of their powers, Jason and Trini race against each other, causing the dirt and wind to fly up behind them as the appear as blurs to the background:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #09) Jason intercepts and blocks an attack from an alternate future version of Kimberly:
Strength
(Justice League - Power Rangers Issue #01) This isn't a feat but a statement and it's from the crossover of Power Rangers and the Justice League so its Canonicity is subject to debate, but going off of the other Rangers' feats, the assessment from Batman that they are all enhanced individuals with increased speed, strength, and durability when morphed is accurate:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) In a Canon statement, Jason tells Trini that he feels stronger when he morphs:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) Jason lifts and holds a large boulder over his head:
Durability
(Justice League - Power Rangers Issue #01) This isn't a feat but a statement and it's from the crossover of Power Rangers and the Justice League so its Canonicity is subject to debate, but going off of the other Rangers' feats, the assessment from Batman that they are all enhanced individuals with increased speed, strength, and durability when morphed is accurate:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #01) Jason is blasted by Rita Repulsa through one wall and slammed into another wall enough to indent himself in it. He remains conscious, though:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) Jason spars with Trini so that they could try and figure out the limits of their Ranger powers. During the spar, Trini hits Jason really hard (both of them were able to hold a large boulder over their heads for a time) but Jason doesn't have a bruise afterwards, suggesting enhanced durability:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02) Jason jumps off a large cliff and although it doesn't show him landing, it's obvious to assume he did and that he did do without any injury:
(Go Go Power Ranges Issue #07) Jason is slammed into the ground by Matt (who's actually a putty in disguise) but shrugs off the blow:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #08) Jason is slammed into the ground with enough force to crack it but is up in the very next moment:
(Go Go Power Rangers Issue #09) Jason and the other Rangers survive being close to a gas container explosion:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #04) Jason and the other Rangers survive an explosion that nearly destroyed the entire command center and the large hill it was located in:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #06) Jason is hit point bank by the Black Dragon's sonic attack which had enough power to knock off his helmet and was described as feeling like your skin was peeling off by Kimberly:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #06) Immediately after the above feat, Jason is blasted back by the Black Dragon's energy blast from his hands (like Iron Man) with enough force to crack the wall he hit, but he still got back up:
(Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #30) Jason tanks a large energy explosion before fighting Lord Drakkon's army:
.

Maybe not post the same scan, 3 times. You could just reference it. posting it 3 times, back to back like that just strikes me as weird, personally

No it is kinda weird, but that's just cause I haven't put in any other feats in those sections. If I finish this and he doesn't have any or enough in each section, I'll just throw it in at the top and reference it like you suggest.

@amendoza5: There was a new issue? I know I’m missing quite a few things for Jason from the past issues, so that might be it.

No it is kinda weird, but that's just cause I haven't put in any other feats in those sections. If I finish this and he doesn't have any or enough in each section, I'll just throw it in at the top and reference it like you suggest.

Durability

Maybe not post the same scan, 3 times. You could just reference it. posting it 3 times, back to back like that just strikes me as weird, personally

No it is kinda weird, but that's just cause I haven't put in any other feats in those sections. If I finish this and he doesn't have any or enough in each section, I'll just throw it in at the top and reference it like you suggest.

@amendoza5: There was a new issue? I know I’m missing quite a few things for Jason from the past issues, so that might be it.

Maybe not post the same scan, 3 times. You could just reference it. posting it 3 times, back to back like that just strikes me as weird, personally

No it is kinda weird, but that's just cause I haven't put in any other feats in those sections. If I finish this and he doesn't have any or enough in each section, I'll just throw it in at the top and reference it like you suggest.
