Rahl should win in a melee.
THey are both about the same size, except Rand might be a bit taller. Rahl's sword fighting ability is part of the sword of truth though, and magical in nature. he posseses the skills of every swordsman who ever wielded the blade, Rand is just a Heron mark blade under his own studies.
when it comes to long distance magical fights i think that Rand should have this handled. he is in much greater control of his magical abilities including the use of Balefire, while Rahl tends to rely on the plot contrivance of "my magic works on need" or whatever that was.
i give it to Rand
