I have plenty of knowledge on Richard, but I'm not sure who I'd take based on book 1. Probably Eragon. I'd say beating a Shade trumps anything Richard did in combat, and while Richard is infinitely more clever he also didn't have a grasp on his magic as well as Eragon. By the end of their respective series in a one-on-one match, Richard would demolish Eragon.

@BringnIt:
Well, Eragon did have a lot of help defeat Durza lol. But since you know more about Richard than I then we can use the whole series for both characters. However, I did hear that Richard basically becomes God in the end, so lets leave that out.

Eragon at the end becomes god-like as well. He could kill Richard with a single assault because he has many eludinari to help. Not to mention his sword is perfectly fit for his body and he has complete control over magic.

If it's a pure swordfight, Eragon gets slagged. In a magical fight with his hundreds of Eldunari, it's most likely the other way around, unless Richard is wielding the power of Orden.

eragon might be physically stronger than Richard, but he's no way in hell bearing Richard in a sword fight, Richard have the ability to use the skill of past seekers,Richard defeated 30 greatest fighters in his fight and just one of those tribesmen can solo entire armies with their skill.

I didn't finish sword of truth books, I stopped at the blood of the fold. Richard uses his magic on instinct,he can't actually control them so he isn't beating dragon in a magical fight either.

sword fight =Richard,far more skilled and faster.

magic=dragon

unless Richard got better in the later books,I don't know.

Eragon stomp in every single round if this isn't a pure sword fight. The magic of even prime Richard Rahl is clearly nothing compare with the magic of Eragon (just remember that he have THE name).

Only sword fight will result in a win for Richard if not restricted to book1 feat, other way he loose badly.

Richard Rahl vs Eragon Kingslayer

Vs

Rules:
- Moral Off
- Fight takes place in a valley
- Richard has the SoT and Eragon has Brisngr
- Solo fight
- Since i've only read book 1 of the SoT series, only book 1 feats will be applicable here (Subject to change if somebody has more knowledge of Richard)

If it's a pure swordfight, Eragon gets slagged. In a magical fight with his hundreds of Eldunari, it's most likely the other way around, unless Richard is wielding the power of Orden.
