Disney has officially bought Fox.

However, two X-Men movies, the sequel Dark Phoenix and the spinoff New Mutants, are set to release next year. Here's why they should be cancelled.

They're just chapters in a book that will never be finished

Seriously, the X-Men universe is way too over-complicated, and Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants are already gonna be the last movies in the franchise. The movies are just pieces of an incomplete continuity that, thanks to Logan, we already know the end of. These movies are just...pointless.

Out with the old, in with the new

Marvel should cancel the new movies so they can reboot the team faster, like they're already going to. That way, they can make people forget about the old franchise and build a better one from scratch, which Marvel is much more capable to do than Fox.

They're destined to be box-office bombs

I mean, after Hugh Jackman's exit, is anyone even gonna give a crap about Dark Phoenix? Probably not. Not to mention that X-Men: Apocalypse was disappointing, and Dark Phoenix is something we really didn't ask for.

What do you think? Should Disney/Marvel cancel the upcoming X-Men movies?

They are not going to cancel them this late into production. And I don't think they are going to bomb. Not Dark Phoenix anyway. Regardless of Jackman's presence, the X-Men movies have always done well enough.

They can't even if they wanted to. Fox has accepted Disney's offer, but they do not own Fox yet, not by a longshot. A merger like this is going to take over a year of financial arrangements and government approvals, so Disney won't actually own Fox until late 2019 or early 2020. In the meantime, Fox is still a separate company that Disney has no control over.

2. Kevin Foggy will leave MCU and move over to X-Men franchise and work with Simon Kinberg on Gambit, Deadpool, X-Men, New Mutants, X-Force, Multiple Man, and Kitty Pryde movies that are in production.

I like most of the X-Men films so I don't have a problem with them releasing the movies. At the very least release them on the streaming service.

1. X-Men is going to continue the way it is.

2. Kevin Foggy will leave MCU and move over to X-Men franchise and work with Simon Kinberg on Gambit, Deadpool, X-Men, New Mutants, X-Force, Multiple Man, and Kitty Pryde movies that are in production.

3. Fantastic Four will be part of MCU.

They can't even if they wanted to. Fox has accepted Disney's offer, but they do not own Fox yet, not by a longshot. A merger like this is going to take over a year of financial arrangements and government approvals, so Disney won't actually own Fox until late 2019 or early 2020. In the meantime, Fox is still a separate company that Disney has no control over.
