Book versions? Gregor no doubt. Robert could debatably defeat him with their standard weapons and armor. But an old fashion fist fight? That's a lopsided mismatch. The bigger guy always wins.

Uh, Gregor has a huge size advantage, Robert towers over most men being 6'6 but to the Mountain he's small, Gregor is stronger too. A closer match would probably be Robert vs the Greatjon where the sizes are closer.

@inside: Thats what i mean. There's nothing to suggest Robert has superior hand to hand skills so we have to base it off pure strength and power.

Maybe not in terms of size, but strength? I think Robert would take that against The Hound at least.

Actually the Hound is a bit taller than Robert. Brienne and Robert are approximantly the same size according to GRRM and San is a bit taller than her.

i guess robert in his prime wasn't so stupid as to fight toe-to-toe with someone much bigger and stronger than he is, so i guess he would play it smart, he is also probably faster, definitely strong enough to hurt the mountain regardless of his size, so i would actually bet on robert winning this fight

Anyway, without weapons, i don't see what Baratheon would be able to do to win. It's not like he even has an experience advantage as the Mountain has been killing since he was a kid.
