Is it possible to test nscd for a particular dns name
I installed nscd (Naming Service Cache Deamon) on ec2 instance for avoiding dns resolution issues while accessing database.
The following are the ways i tried to test to check whether the caching is working properly or not
1) created a route53 dns record which points to my database.
2) tested out my endpoints.
3) deleted the dns record and hit the endpoints again.
4) the db connection was broken (Meaning the host name is not cached in ec2 instance or nscd is smart to detect the presence of dbs name which i am not sure)
5) I tried to retaining the dns record and pointed to junk value.still the db is broken.
I want help to understand nscd works and is there any way to verify its purpose.
