[error] (update) sbt.librarymanagement.ResolveException: unresolved dependency: org.apache.hadoop#hadoop-aws;3.1.1: not found
However, this module exists on maven-central, and sbt 1.2.3 (near as I can tell) checks maven central by default.
I'm not sure how to fix this or what to try next; everything else I've found on this looks to be solving the same error in sbt v0.13 by adding Maven as a resolver, but nothing for sbt v1.2.3, and nothing other than adding the (AFAIK) already-present Maven central resolver.

I can give that a go. It seems to be working with2.8.3

Did you try to invoke the binary compatibility through the
%%
? I mean like this: "org.apache.hadoop" %% "hadoop-aws" % "3.1.1"

I can give that a go. It seems to be working with
2.8.3
instead of 3.1.1
, but I still don't know why, and I just kind of stumbled on which version, instead of actually finding anything out.– Narfanator

I was not able to reproduce this error using the following build with sbt 1.2.8:
ThisBuild / scalaVersion := "2.12.8"
ThisBuild / version := "0.1.0-SNAPSHOT"
ThisBuild / organization := "com.example"
ThisBuild / organizationName := "example"
val hadoop_aws = "org.apache.hadoop"% "hadoop-aws" % "3.1.1"
lazy val root = (project in file("."))
.settings(
name := "hadoop",
libraryDependencies += hadoop_aws
)
Thanks, this should be helpful when I return to trying to resolve this.
