Thomas Holenstein


Thomas Holenstein (* 7. Februar 1896 in St. Gallen; † 31. Oktober 1962 in Muralto), Bürger von Bütschwil, war ein Schweizer Politiker (CVP).



Biografie |


Holenstein war von 1936 bis 1954 im st. gallischen Kantonsrat und von 1937 bis 1954 im Nationalrat.


Er wurde am 16. Dezember 1954 in den Bundesrat gewählt. Am 31. Dezember 1959 übergab er sein Amt, nachdem er am 20. November den Rücktritt erklärt hatte. Während seiner Amtszeit stand er dem Volkswirtschaftsdepartement vor.


Er war Bundespräsident im Jahre 1958 und Vizepräsident im Jahre 1957.
