please explain the operation of self in a method when self is also the receiver of .each method
Consider the code below. self
obviously calls the method. But it also receives .each
. Shouldn't .each
be received by a receiver that is outside the method, such as bar
, directly? I am having a difficult time understanding the working logic here.
def find_all
foo =
self.each do |f| #shouldn't I iterate over some enumerable outside method?
if yield(f)
foo << f
end
end
foo
end
bar =
File.open("some-text.txt") bar = s.readlines
my_line = bar.find_all b
puts my_line
variables methods self
