Bayonetta stomps any version of Lightning.

The version of Lightning does matter. The newest version of Lightning is far more powerful than the original, and is also immune to time manipulation. That would cancel out Bayonetta's counter ability. Plus, according to the OP, she doesn't have any special items or partners.

If it's Lightning from FFXIII-2 vs standard Bayonetta, I think Lightning wins.

That makes a big difference considering in the first one, she's just a l'cie with in game max stats at 20,000 HP 1,700 Strength & 1,700 Magic to a Goddess in part 2 with in game max stats of 999,999 HP 9,999 Strength & 9,999 Magic

@randumo24: in lightning returns she can use army of one with overclocked! which is she can dodge all bayonetta summons/attacks while using army of one at the speed of light. (lightning wins)

Lightning stomps... Stop trying to categorize lightning's features by game 1, 2, 3, and just go with her last depiction which is lightning returns. She curb stomped the god of the universe and shaped the new world how she wanted it to be. Bayonetta is just some Whre with hair power and guns. Lightning has proven herself better than such lower class!

And don't get it twisted. I like Bayonetta but all of her enemies were comical and she can never be on Lightning's level. Sorry Lightning haters and Bayonetta lovers but she takes it. She can dodge bullets and anything else Bayonetta has to offer. Bayonetta is nowhere near the tier Bhunivelze was.. sooo yea, Lightning all day!
