I was curious if people could give me insight into that question. Granted they were a bit disappointing because we didn't get to see all of their abilities but that doesn't take away from the fact that these guys were stated by shunsui, who would be the next head captain, as being stronger than all of the Gotei 13 combined.

I think that some confusion and anger over their defeat has led other characters such as shunsui to be overhyped. I'm not saying he isn't strong with some crazy hax (that is situational) but he's not as strong as people make him out to be. I just want to see what people's opinion of them is and if it's changed at all.

They were simply unimpressive. 3 Members of the Royal Guard(IIRC) got bodied by base Lille, while Shikai Shunsui could match him. The only one among them who lived up to the hype was Ichibe.

we don't know if Lillie was in base for their whole fight because we didn't see it and Gerard, pernida and askin were there as well so it wasn't a 1v3.

also they lost to auswahlen elites the ones the soul society faced was after the auswahlen power was gone. you can see the wing they have dissolve/fade away when they go to ichigo and co when they try to stop yhwach. auswahlen was only active when the feather wings were out

Ichibe and Oetsu are the strongest out of them, they're not weak but most were unimpressive simply because they didn't get a chance to use any of their powers besides Ichibe. Who has crazy hax over the concept of name and controls all things black in the bleach universe.

This it literally before they got a massive boost in power and started to use their ridiculous hax like Lille,besides they're not even dead via the novel they all have the same immortality as Ichibe no matter what as long as their designated palaces are intact and you call out their name they come right back.

true no one showed much but all the stuff they did show was them being superior to someone in the gotei i.e tenjirou blitzing soi fon and senjumaruu going around soul society collecting all the injured and even breaking into mayuri's lab before anyone noticed she was gone
