Ok so Goku cannot lock on to anyone's energy on Earth so he and Vegeta must ride with Beerus and Whis to get back to Earth. So now Trunks tries to contact the past to help fight Goku Black and Zamasu and sees that Friza is back. Frieza notices trunks has returned and sends his entire army after him. If Trunks defeats the army then Frieza himself will decide to fight him.

Trunks decides to tell everyone else to stand back and let him handle it.

This is Resurrection of F arc Frieza and Future Trunks arc Trunks.

So can Trunks successfully defeat Frieza and his army again?

Future trunks couldn’t beat ssj3 goku. Frieza claps him.

Freeza bullies him.

Golden freeza would be too much for future trunks.

Trunks stops at Tagoma, stops at 1st form Frieza, or gets hard stopped at 4th form Frieza. Forget Golden Frieza, that won’t be necessary. Though Frieza might just go Golden in-character out of the rage he’d feel seeing Trunks again, after which he would literally destroy Trunks. The 1,000+ soldiers don’t matter and Shisami probably doesn’t matter, but if Tagoma is as strong as he seemed and was implied then he could very well stop Trunks because Trunks has proven time and time again that he’s a terrible fighter when he doesn’t have a stupidly high advantage over his foe.
