Flash War! Long story short, Hunter Zolomon is back, has some new powers (strength force, sage force,) and he triggered Wally to remember his kids Jay and Irey.

Now what is interesting that yeah I agree Wally is mentally damaged, the dude is no longer married and has no clue about the wherabouts of his kids. However, sending him to sanctuary? Really? Isn't that place supposed to be a place where psycho's get treated (Harley, Ivy and the likes). Wally is not a psycho smh. Moreoever, it doesn't help that Tom King is writing this limited series called Heroes in crisis. Hopefully he'll do Wally jjustice (my fav character next to Bruce and Jason) but it's highly unlikely having read dozens issues of his (IMO) worst Btman run to date.

What are your thoughts?

I hope for the best. I just finished reading the fifth volume of the Geoff Johns Wally West run. Good stuff!

Awesome! Johns’ run is basically the best Flash run imo, well at least tied with Waid’s run for me. Have fun mate!

@project_worm: I am, actually. I’m pretty sure it’s temporary. I don’t think they’ll throw away the classic look just like that. Speaking of classic, the rebirth design isn’t perfect either, the Bat logo needs to go. The whole point of Jason is that he’s the black sheep of the Batfamily....anyhow, we’re going off topic here lol.

@eto: However, sending him to sanctuary? Really? Isn't that place supposed to be a place where psycho's get treated (Harley, Ivy and the likes).

Sanctuary is not like an insane asylum. From what I understand, it's supposed to be a place set up to help superheroes deal with a lot of the stress, trauma, and general mental anguish that comes with the job; basically something like what people in the army or CIA would use but for superheroes.

Honestly, my main fear about the event is that DC is advertising it by teasing character deaths, including that a Flash will die. Generally one of the worst parts about most crossover event comics is that they needlessly kill off characters who are barely involved in the story. After everything Wally has been through since Rebirth, everything with the Titans and Flash War, to have him killed off as a casualty in a mass shooting that isn't even about him will piss a LOT of Wally's fans off if it happens.

As for the actual point of the thread.

If Tom King really wants to make this story and he has a definitive beginning, middle and end the story will be damn good... King is great when he's deliberate with the story he wants to tell he just doesn't have a great track record with ongoings.

Besides given his background I don't think there's any writer better suited to telling a story that involves heroes dealing with PTSD

I think you’ve missed the point behind Sanctuary. It’s not supposed to be an insane asylum, it’s for providing therapy and help for those who have suffered trauma. Wally going to Sanctuary isn’t because he’s psycho, it’s because he’s suffered incredibly traumatic experiences

@aros001: I’m calling it that a Flash won’t die in this event. DC released a new teaser saying “One of these characters will die!” and neither Wally nor Barry were on it. Plus, this seems to be a lower stakes, personal crisis, and it wouldn’t make sense to kill a Flash

I totally think Booster Gold is toast, tho

https://comicbook.com/dc/2018/07/24/heroes-in-crisis-will-feature-the-death-of-the-flash/

"You can't have a Crisis without a dead Flash," Heroes in Crisis writer Tom King told a group of reporters over the weekend, standing on the dock of a yacht while he and everyone in sight was wearing white DC Entertainment-branded bathrobes.

And a few other sites have been really hyping this, most thinking the Flash who dies will be killed during the mass shooting in the first issue. The teaser DC released of the six characters, one of whom will die, was I believe for issue 4.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for the Flash death to just be a misunderstanding or a quote taken out of context, because there is no Flash that could be killed that wouldn't feel like a cheap shock death, especially in the first issue. Barry or Wally or even Kid Flash getting killed off in an event comic that's not even about them right after Flash War.

And while I don't want any of the characters to die (because the worst part of bad event comics is the needless killing of characters) Booster Gold I feel would at least be the best choice, since it seems that he and Harley are actively involved in the events of the series. While it sucks that Ted Kord was killed in Countdown to Infinite Crisis, at least that story was about and starring him. If Booster dies, at least he was an actual PART of the story that led to his death and not just there to be murdered (like Bruce Banner in Civil War 2 or Firestorm in Identity Crisis).

@eto: Fine, fine I just had to go on record and say that I hated it...

@aros001: I’m calling it that a Flash won’t die in this event. DC released a new teaser saying “One of these characters will die!” and neither Wally nor Barry were on it. Plus, this seems to be a lower stakes, personal crisis, and it wouldn’t make sense to kill a Flash
