npm install on our servers : fails with error

I was trying to install npm but it is fail with the following error : [ERROR] npm ERR! FetchError: request to https://registry.npmjs.org/typescript.
This is understable considering we will not have connection to https://registry.npmjs.org from server.
However I am trying to solve this but couldn't.
I tried some options.
- running npm install --registry "internal registry"
- npm config
set registry "internal registry" - Tried to set the Artifactory
repositories in pom file. - Changed the package-lock.json reference
from registry.npmjs.org to "internal repo"
So far nothing has solved and I always get the error like the one I mentioned above.
Basically, I can't set proxy in install, can't download from registry.npmjs.org
, somehow I need to download from our repo and install it.
Any suggestions/solutions/directions/ to take this forward.
npm npm-install
