running MD5 on a file throws error: OSError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument
I'm trying to run an MD5 on a list of files, but I'm getting an error and I'm not really sure why.
with open(local_file, 'rb') as f:
print(f) # prints: <_io.BufferedReader name='absolute/path/to/file.mkv'>
print(f.read()) # Throws the error: OSError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument
print(hashlib.md5(f.read()).hexdigest())
the line print(f.read())
Throws the following error
OSError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument
python-3.x file md5

Please check the filepath and make sure it exists

If the file didn't exist, then thewith open...
line is what would throw the error and give ano such file
error. No?

You are correct. I observed that the file ismkv
. With python, reading a huge file into RAM causes issues. I remember seeing something similar in SO before. Let me find the link.
