How to copy all tags from EC2 to attached EBS volumes while launch using cloudformation?

0

I am trying to launch an EC2 instance using cloudformation. The ami I am using is a custom one which is automatically attaching two EBS volumes to the instance .

Now when I launch instance, it's having the mentioned tags but the same tags are missing from 2 attached EBS volumes.

How do get he same set of tags applied to both the EBS volumes as well ?

Here is my CT template (removed irrelevant details) ---

 "Resources":
"MyEC2Instance":
"Type": "AWS::EC2::Instance",
"Properties":
"ImageId": "ami-029a562116de8",
"KeyName": "Ref": "KeyName" ,
"InstanceType": "Ref": "InstanceType" ,
"Tags":["Key":"ApplicationName","Value":"digital-eai",
"Key":"ApplicationOwner","Value":"Digital-Integration-Eng@xyz.com",
"Key":"ClarityID","Value":"None",
"Key":"Domain","Value":"None",
"Key":"Name","Value":"test_cloudformation",
"Key":"ProductTower","Value":"Digital",
"Key":"SecurityPosture","Value":"Yellow",
"Key":"SupportContact","Value":"xyz@xyz.com"

  • Assuming EBS blocks are created at the runtime, you can't tag them. I'd suggest defining EBS volumes in the CFT itself and attach those replacing default ones via user data.

  • Assuming EBS blocks are created at the runtime, you can't tag them. I'd suggest defining EBS volumes in the CFT itself and attach those replacing default ones via user data.
