@rukelnikovftw: trying to say that Cap's armor and body is harder than steel if he can take a hit from his shield. But at the same time, the shield might not be that hard if Cap's body isn't actually hard as steel and it couldn't cut through CAP.

A bullet can pierce a van but might not go through a human.
Doesn't make the human bulletproof.
You could dent a van door with a punch if you hit harder enough but that same punch might not do anything to someone if you hit them square in the chest or abs.

Let's just agree once for all that the shield is super inconsistent with its damage output and durability. It's a plot device and does whatever the plot requires it to do.
They even broke the fourth wall discussing it in Civil war. Peter asked Cap if the shield obeys any laws of physics at all.

It's a feat for Steve. Characters tank stuff that go through material as hard as steel all the time, even though they shouldn't. It's not exclusive to the shield, nor is it a plot device because of it.

It is consistent. He also tanked a hit from the metal shredding Quicksilver in Age of Ultron, repulsors from Tony, and a held back punch from thanos. So it is not an outlier.

Him being hit by a Vibranium weapon should obviously be a durability feat. It just so happens that the way they've displayed the shield doing damage on the edge is by it going through things in a cutting like manner. Which kinda makes sense. But the actual edge is blunt. So yeah it's a durability feat for him. And one of his best.

@rukelnikovftw: trying to say that Cap's armor and body is harder than steel if he can take a hit from his shield. But at the same time, the shield might not be that hard if Cap's body isn't actually hard as steel and it couldn't cut through CAP.

@rukelnikovftw: trying to say that Cap's armor and body is harder than steel if he can take a hit from his shield. But at the same time, the shield might not be that hard if Cap's body isn't actually hard as steel and it couldn't cut through CAP.

I think first throw WS was bloodlusted. Second part his head was being messed with so he might've been holding back.

Cap's shield has always been inconsistent. Not only in the movies but in the comics as well. It is whatever the plot needs it to be

I am beginning to think more and more that the shield is just a plot device.

Considering we saw a knife go through him without any problem just a few seconds later, I'd say it's shield's inconsistency.
