Zeus and Cyttorak have lost their patience with their followers Hercules and Juggernaut, respectively, not meeting their expectations, so they meet a Thanos in despair after his constant failures with the Infinity Gauntlet and the Heart of the Universe, and grant him immense power, with Thanos promising that he will not conquer many spiritual dimensions to reward Zeus and Cyttorak and allow them to be his equals, in exchange for offering him the necessary aid to rule the material universe by himself. So Apocalypse and Ultron, the two most determined individuals to change the world to represent their own vesion, as well as Mephisto and Hela who rule two seperate realms of the dead, and Legion whose uncontrollable mental abilites have connected him with alternative realities more closely than a reluctant Franklin Richards who is constrainting his powers due to his more benevolent personality, agree to form an alliance not simply aiming at destroying the opposing team, but also to steal the power of their enemies after they manage to defeat them to increase their own to a level sufficient enough to conquer the multiverse for themselves. All of them have infinite prep time for every round, each round ends when one team member from either team dies, morals on when winning but off when losing, one team chooses the first battleground out of every place in the Marvel multiverse, while the other chooses for the next round, starting with Apocalypse team, and they fight until all enemy team members die.
