Why a method in the model isn't accessible?

-1

Here is my model: (AppUser.php)

namespace App;

use IlluminateNotificationsNotifiable;
use IlluminateFoundationAuthUser as Authenticatable;

class User extends Authenticatable

use Notifiable;

protected $connection = 'mysql';
protected $table = 'users';

public function hasAnyRole($roles)

if(is_array($roles))
foreach ($roles as $role)
if($this->hasRole($role))
return true;

else
if($this->hasRole($roles))
return true;

return false;

public function hasRole($role)

if($this->role()->where('name',$role)->first())
return true;

return false;

And I need to use hasAnyRole() method in the middleware. Here is my code in the middleware:

.
.
if( $request->user()->hasAnyRole($roles) ) {
.
.

But it throws:

"Call to undefined method AppUser::hasAnyRole()"

Noted that $request->user() is exists. Any idea what's the problem?

  • Use static public static function hasAnyRole($roles)

  • @leenapatel Not required. I am using middleware to call model methods which are non-static.
