Extracting and filtering IPython history data using sqlite3

0

I made a few different definitions of a class in IPython a few days ago. I want to dump all of them to a file for manual curation.

I tried this SELECT statement with sqlite3, but only the first line in each definition was shown:

sqlite3 ~/.ipython/profile_default/history.sqlite 'SELECT source FROM history WHERE session IN (SELECT session FROM history WHERE INSTR(source, "class A():"));'

I've also used session_raw in place of session, but the output was pretty much identical.

How do I extract all the class definitions in full?

  • When I browse my history with DB Browser of SQLite (Ubuntu) I have no problems seeing the class definition. %history -g class A also gives lots of text.
