How to connect MongoDB hosted on EC2 to Tableau
I have a EC2 instance setup, containing the manually installed mongodb
free edition.
- A user has been added with
username
andpassword
withreadWrite
access Changes made to
/etc/mongod.conf
a. Added
bindIp: 0.0.0.0
b. Added
security:
authorization: 'enabled'
Currently, it's running on port: 27017
Now, I'm able to access mongodb the usual way but not through the Tableau
software. I get this error message
An error occurred while communicating with MongoDB BI Connector.
The connection to the data source might have been lost.
[MySQL][ODBC 5.3(w) Driver]Lost connection to MySQL server at 'waiting for initial communication packet', system error: 10060
Unable to connect to the MongoDB BI Connector server "EC2 public IP". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.
In the MongoDb BI Connector
, I'm adding the following details to connect to my EC2 mongodb
Server: EC2 public IP
Port: 27017
User/pass: The one added in mongodb shell, username/password
Am I missing something? Why am I not able to connect?
My tableau is hosted on a different EC2 instance, not sure if that's the problem
