Injustice is more friendly to casual players. The rest comes down to your preferences.

Injustice are literally better versions of MK.

The comic site is gonna pick injustice but mortal kombat is better

Mk, the lore to me is more interesting. Plus i'd beat anyone even pros with Blood God Kotal Khan.

Injustice because MK9 wasn't very good. I'd say MKX is comparable to Injustice in quality.

Story wise I liked mk9 over injustice. Mkx,while still good, was a downgrade and injustice 2 takes it. Gameplay goes to the mk series

both MKX and IJ2 story are trash because the massive plotholes they leave open for those tie in comics. (If you like the comics good for you but it doesn't excuse the games story being filled with plotholes until 3 years later they answered a question that could have been done in 5 minutes)

however MK has less zone spamming. (and the spamming it has can be avoided easier) And as much as i suck at playing games i don't find the (Hold back to block thing) That big of a deal.

The rest is pretty much preference. (Blood or Comic characters)

However IJ has some nice stage transitions. Kind of wish MK wouldn't have ditched that element of gameplay but whatever.

As far as competitive gameplay MK9 solos. But as far as actual games Injustice is better. And this is coming from an avid player of all Netherrealm titles.
