unable to create dns create query

0

I am a new to DNS, and I am trying to send a create(through opcode= UPDATE) request to a server which accepts DNS requests, through sample Java program. For this I need to send my query with two records, one in ZONE section and other in UPDATE section. I am using dnsjava jar and trying to create a record through following method:

rec = Record.newRecord(name, Type.CNAME, dclass, 300, 9, sdpID.getBytes("UTF-32"));

Record org.xbill.DNS.Record.newRecord(Name name, int type, int dclass, long ttl, int length, byte data)

Second last parameter is length of the bytes we want to make active, and last parameter is having data in byte format. While creating this, its failing in different classes based on format of bytes I am trying to pass, or length of data. Last param is asking for byte array of the record, in uncompressed DNS wire format(not sure what kind of format is this). I am able to fetch records, through a server, and I am able to create a record and update in ZONE section through following code:

rec = Record.newRecord(name, type, dclass);

  • What is exactly your question? You may also need to find a library that expose to you an API at the appropriate level based on your needs. Because from your explanations the current one you are using seems too low in the stack.
