Apache Pig: loop through list

0

I have the dataset:

(0,(1),(2),(3),(6),(8),(9))
(1,(0),(5),(9))
(2,(0),(9))
(3,(0),(4),(5),(7),(9))
(4,(3),(8))
(5,(1),(3),(6),(8))
(6,(0),(5),(9))
(7,(3),(8))
(8,(0),(4),(5),(7))
(9,(0),(1),(2),(3),(6))

Which is representing the dataset:

friends: user: int, list: friend: (id: int)

in apache pig. I need to loop through the list of friends which is list: friend: (id: int). How can I loop through the list?

  • Have a look at the FLATTEN operator. With it you can get each element of your list into a record of its own. Then apply required translation logic to you flattented relation to get the closest loop-like behavior you can achieve in vanilla Pig.
