Having a son is what pushed Superman's story forward and evolved him into a true new status that we haven't seen before.
And to most people I've talked to, Jon Kent so far has been the last example of a character's story moving permanently forward and not eventually backpedaling on it.
After an almost ten year run of Dan Slott's Spider-Man with no lasting chance for the character having stayed, Batman's wedding falling through, and Deadpool getting a mindwipe, is there any Marvel or DC heroes whose story has actually moved significantly forward since Jon Kent's introduction and not just stayed running in circles?

The overarching Green Lantern mythos has gone through some changes over the years
The Superman family is probably the best recent example of a character’s core story moving forward tho

Not even trying to be anti capecomics but they're literally tailor made to not really progress, they only offer the illusion of progress or they do it in such a snail's pace it might've well not of even happened. That's sorta the point of serial fiction which is what superhero comics are.

>reading Capes for progressing story
Not even trying to be anti capecomics but they're literally tailor made to not really progress, they only offer the illusion of progress or they do it in such a snail's pace it might've well not of even happened. That's sorta the point of serial fiction which is what superhero comics are.

Well its easy for him to advance as the character is about two years old, let see how much progression John will have a decade from now.

I was actually referring to how Jon Kent represents Superman's story moving forward and developing.
