Change result after the ActionExecutionDelegate executes

0

I'm trying to create a global exception handling attribute for my Web APIs written in ASP.Net Core and I'm using the IAsyncActionFilter interface to do so. What I'm is invoking the the ActionExecutionDelegate and then check for exceptions in its result. When I encounter an exception I then attempt to redirect the result or manually write to HttpResponse and that is where I face the actual problem. Given the following example:

var resultContext = await next();

any code that attempts to alter the response after this code fails. I've tried the following approaches:

 resultContext.Result = new ContentResult() ...
resultContext.HttpContext.Response.WriteAsync(.....)

I also tried to do the same with the context of the action before execution out of curiosity but as expected it also failed.

In case you need to know the actual method signature for the OnActionExecutionAsync method, it is as follows:

Task OnActionExecutionAsync(ActionExecutingContext context, ActionExecutionDelegate next)
