A match between these characters as they are depicted in the lore of league of legends - we do not take into account their game efficiency as obviously it depends on the player. However we assume that among other lore-wise correct skills these characters also are capable of using the abilities they have in the game kit.

With that said - Who wins in all out fight to the death between the 3 of them? Fiora - the greatest duelist in valoran, Jax, the unbeatable and greatest armsmen in Institute of War, or Xin Zhao, the most skilled Fleshing gladiator ever seen in Noxus.

@thoromdil: Jax is armed with the torch in the picture or can he get a real weapon or are we focused purely on the kit?

If on lore alone I would go with Jax hands down IIRC the old, early season lore for him, which they've probably updated by now said he had won so many times and beaten every champion that he either decided to use a lantern or he was banned from using a real weapon, I can't recall which, either way Xin Zhao came out late pre-season 1 to early season one so it might effect him but more realistically I only see it effecting the original cast from league of legends since thats when it was wrote and he presummably started using the lantern but that's still quite a feat.

If were talking about Kits for dueling but outside of gameplay I would still give it to Jax, mainly becuase of his e and how it is so good at countering melee attacks which all 3 rely heavy on, after that I would give Xin second place and Ironically in a duel between all three the master duelist fiora would come in last in my book since she's a bit squishier (lore wise as well since she's a chick) and Xin has some powerful bursty attacks

So lore or Kit wise I see this being the same JAX>XIN>FIORA

Standard equipment for all, so the one in the pictures is accurate for everyone, Jax as well.

With these conditions Xin > Fiora > Jax

In my opinion. Xin has some very impressive lore feats, I think they had him fight 300 gladiator fighters or something to make sure he finally dies on stage because he would never go down no matter how many or who he fought. That's freakin impressive. Also his game kit is very versatile, he has the most crowd control abilities of all of them (stun, knockback, knockup and slow) and he has self-sustain because every thirds attack heals him, and beyond that, he has all the abilities the other two have (defensive abilities, leaps and dashes, enhanced basica attacks and speed etc). I think this will be enough proof to beat the other two. Fiora is close second because of her ability to find weak spots and healing from her ultimate. That's how I see it.

Also just look at the pictures, Xin is the only one who has an actual armor here, and that's gonna make some serious difference in fight to the death :D

@detacude: Wouldn't xin outsustain jax if he can heal and jax can't? Also Jax has counter but that's just one stun, xin has like 3 hard CC abilities so he might be even better, no?

@turr: Jax has armor as well in a sense coming from his active on his ultimate, alot more effective than actual armor if you check the difference in their base starting armor compared to how much extra armor his ult gives him

@turr: not necessarily because the sustain would be countered by the passive on jaxs ultimate which does burst damage on every 3rd hit and then if you factor in his normal passive that has him gaining attack speed as long as he does'nt stop hitting something for a certain period which I'm confident the duration of which outlasts Xins knock-up so Xin would not be able to reset this, so in the end Jax would be hitting his 3rd strike MUCH more often than Xin would, also Jax tends to hit for ALOT more damage with his 3rd hit then Xin tends to heal even without items if I recall

Jax is literally undefeated before using a lamppost. He is theorized to be a summoner (absurdly broken wizard) who went rogue and competed in the league for shits and giggles. They had to nerf him to never using a real weapon

Xin Zhao certainly has the stamina considering his lore of being in the arena nonstop but Jax is absolutely undefeated. And Fiora wouldn't really be much of a factor here because Xin and Jax would simply outclass her

Jax being undefeated should not be a factor against Fiora or Xin guys. Jax's lore was written back in season 1 when Xin and Fiora were not yet around. So Jax is undefeated among Season 1 fighter champions like Tryndamere or Garen but Xin and Fiora are not included here. Also Jax was undefeated before he was forced to fight with a lantern. In this fight he only gets his lantern not real weapon so this is even more of a handicap in my opinion. And besides that he doesn't have any concrete feats like defeting this or that guy - he is just "said" to be the best. I don't think it works that way... Xin also has increased damage on his auto-attacks due to his passive that penetrates armor. He also can enhance his basic attacks in speed (W) and power (Q) adding a knockup effect that makes him attack at least two extra times for free. And there's Xin's ultimate on top of that too, that also makes him more tanky, deals damage, resets auto-attack and can give knockback+stun effect when used at the start. That's a lot of effects to counter Jax's enhanced attack speed and third auto attack from ult. And then there's sustain that only xin has and it definitely will keep him alive for longer periods of time.

Sure I agree with everything you said, now factor in when Xin uses his W Jax has an Answer with his E and the fact the longer the fight goes on the more use Jax gets out of both his normal and ultimate passive then factor in the buttload of armor his active on his ult gives him, I think Xins Kit can be very effective in killing squishies but when it comes to somone who can last in a fight like Jax he's outmatched

Well I agree as well. Jax is probably a lot better in a long run, Xin is better in a burst. Still I think Xin might be able to burst down Jax. Without items that give Jax sustain and tankiness he can't really hope for a prolonged fight. And although I must say probably Jax would win majority of times in the game if two players with similar skills were playing a versus match. All you would need to do is build items that would ensure Jax surviving initial burst of xin and then you would simply outclass him as fight drags on. But here with lore included and game items denied I think Xin will overpower Jax. Also I repeat my argument I know, but from the 3 of them, Xin is the only one who wears and armor into combat. That is a big advantage, especially that Jax also has a lantern as a weapon while Xin has some magical spear-thing that will probably cut through jax's cloak like through butter.

Your not explaining how he bursts Jax despite not being able to fully utilize his W since Jaxs E counters it and you seem to be completely ignoring the massive armor boost he gets with his ultimate. Jax E>W Xin, Jax Q=Q Xin, Jax passive from his ult and his normal passive > E Xin, and his active armor from his ult >>>> Xins passive. The only real argument that see that could be made in Xins favor is the extra burst from his ult but I don't think it's enough, as it does'nt do that much single target damage, its great for repositioning someone.. escaping.. moving someone out of position... hitting multiple people with it ect.. but in a 1v1 positioning when both people have gap closers and are melee seems irrelevant. Also if were really gonna get into Xins spear being magical looking, which it may or not be, lets hit this too, Jax wields a Lantern with an open flame, Xin has a shit ton of Hair and a flamable lion cloth by his crotch one hit in either area LOL, also if you look closely Jax does have armor! Look at his mid section closely.. his arms ect, it appears he sports leather armor vs Xins heavier but much more durable plate armor and Jax also has a mask and/or helmet.. hard to say with his Hood

@detacude: For me we are getting too much into game mechanics. I simply think Jax and Xin have very similar kit, but Xin has more sustainability because he can heal. As for Jax having an advantage in damage, it can be countered with an argument that Xin has an advantage in CC. So it's a fight of opinions. But I think this fight should really focus on the lore more then game from the OP. In my opinion Xin has some very impressive feats because he was actually fighting hundreds of noxian gladiators at the same time and was winning the Fleshing every time he fought in it. Jax doesn't have specified feats like these, he is just said to be the best - but that was before xin and many other champions came out - then he had his weapon taken away from him to even the grounds with other fighters. So now he is using a lantern against Xin, which is another disadvantage. On top of that, Xin also has a battle armor on him while Jax only wears robes. There is just so much going for Xin in this fight that in my opinion he should win. I even think Fiora should win with Jax but that's another argument. As I said for me it's Xin > Fiora > Jax

Jax would solo them both with a spoon. Haven't played lol in years so idk about the lore as it is now, but old Jax wasn't allowed to carry a real weapon in a fight because he was too damn strong. That's just ridiculous.

@tehmasta: @ultrra: jax was only undefeatable with his weapon, without it he was never stated to be undefeated. Besides a lot changed in the lore since jax was introduced. Both Fiora and Xin were introduced after Jax, so his feat about being the best fighter YET in league doesn't apply to them. Going by feats Xin should take it. He was a slave gladiator in noxus and wouldn't die no matter who he fough, even if they had dozens od other champions gank up on him at the same time. Eventually they've got so pissed they set up a fight between him and a freaking 300 other gladiators to make sure he can't beat them. Jax however a legend, can't come close to that kind of fighting feat. Since ingame mechanics are also allowed but items are not, Xin has even more advantage because he can heal, penetrate armor and crit without any items. With this setup, he really should win this.

just tried fiora and I think she beats them both! Both in lore and in game. she is an amazing duelist!

@comicgirl21: that's some next level bullshit ingame Fiora can maybe beat jax and xin if she is fed but she'd lose a random duel without items 10/10. Xin/Jax just stun her when she ults and its gg for Fiora. In lore its even worse because she has little to no feats. Jax is the grandmaster duelist who is said to be able to beat anyone and xin is the best in-lore gladiator who would supposedly beat 300 other gladiators solo before going down. Fiora is just... said to be good idk.
