It was a month after the great curse that turned Twilight City into the town of eternal night.
After the city had been cursed to never see the light of day and always be covered in darkness, most of the citizens had left as fast as possible. A few stayed, either because they wanted to stay out of a feeling of… loyalty, maybe? Other simply stayed because they couldn’t afford to move out of town. A few people had surprisingly enough moved to the town BECAUSE of the eternal night curse. They were magicians or other types of men and women who studied magic. They were fascinated by the sunlight-sucking aura that surrounded the town and the magical plants that appeared after the curse.
But the magic folks who moved in couldn’t compensate for the great number of people who had left town as fast as they could. Some even did so without selling their home, they just wanted to get out. And those who lived here now were either too scared to leave the home, busy doing their magic stuff or were busy trying to loot the abounded shops and homes.
Which meant that Chester Walker the bum could find a place to sleep. Some of the abandon houses even had a little food. Chester realized that it was a temporary solution for him, but as a homeless man he was used to temporary solutions.
After eating up the food he found in his latest house, Chester decided that it was time to move. He tried to turn on his flashlight but realized that the batteries were dead. So he threw out the old ones and found the last pair of batteries in his backpack. He either had to find a new pair quickly or learn to see in the dark.
As he marches through the empty streets that was meekly illuminated by the light poles that still worked, Chester’s eyes flickered as he heard whispering everywhere. Either there were creatures all around him he could not see, or he was about to lose his sanity. Chester was unsure what was worse.
And then... Chester saw him. It was a little boy. He stood in the middle of the streets, completely alone.
“Hey!“ Chester yelled. “Hey! Kid! Are you alone.“
The boy did not answer. He just stood there, smiling. Chester decided to move closer. And so did the boy. But then, Chester stopped. Something felt wrong about the kid. So he took a step backward.
The boy took a step forward.
Chester turned around, and walked away in haste. He turned his head to see if the boy followed him.
He did. And he smiled, revealing all of his pointy teeth.
Chester ran. He ran as if his life depended on it. He took a quick backward. That was the mistake. The boy was about to chance shape into something tall, white and with long, clawed fingers.
Chester ran as he had never done before. So much that it hurt. So fast that he lost balance and tripped. He landed on his face in the cement... and was swallowed by it.
“Well, that sucks!“ Said the monster as it turned back to a red-haired kid.
...
It was as if the lake located in the graveyard SPAT Chester out. Chester coughed as if his lounges were about to burst. He took a look around and recognized the place where he had buried his wife. The cemetery was illuminated by torches, so he could see his own reflection in the lake.
And he could not recognize the man he saw.
He was slender, tall, young. Not short, chubby and middle-age. Chester pinched himself. Then he pinched himself again. Then a third time. Then he stood up, stretched his arms, swung his arms around, bend his knees, jumped up and down and did other exercises to get used to his new body.
And then, he realized that he was naked as a newborn. Chester looked around for something to cover himself up with, then noticed that on his wife’s tombstone was a set of clothes. It was a green tuxedo. And a pink cat-mask.
Chester Walker left the cemetery dressed in his new uniform, knowing that the city had remade him into it’s defender, and he had to fight for the people of Twilight so that one day-
“Wait, stop... that doesn’t make any sense. Twilight got cursed fifteen years ago. He hasn’t been around the city for THAT long.”
“Try again!”
Vihaan Khatri was running away... again. This time from the circus she had went to when she had ran away from home to begin with. He had spend four great years there, found a surrogate family, had become an excellent acrobat, even found love.
A love that did not end very well.
Poor Miranda had been murdered. And all clues had led to Vihaan.
So here he was. Twilight City. The very same town he had escaped from after he had had enough of his drunken mother and her “upbringing techniques.” Vihaan had spent what little money he had on a motel room so he had somewhere to sleep while he made a plan for what to do next. He read a newspaper where there underneath the photo of George W Bush who had just been reelected president was a-
”Wait a minute... George Bush never got reelected.“
“Crap, then it’s fake. Okay, AGAIN!”
... It had been a great night. Little Jimmy Swanson and his parents were on their way home from the movies. But as they walked down a dark alley, they saw a man with a gun. He wanted the necklace that Jimmy’s mother was wearing, and-
“Bullshit! That’s Batman’s origin story!“ The psychic super-villain known as Hat Trick was about to lose her temper. She took off her hat(thus revealing her brain sticking out of her head) and furiously threw it on the floor and stepped on it as if it was a bug that caused her disgust.
“Relax cuz, RELAX” Josh looked worried at Hat Trick who looked like she wanted to strangle the superhero whom they had sedated and tied to a chair.
This might not have been such a good idea after all.

@cbishop: Well, it is a "secret" origin.
And it might be revealed in 31.
