Ted Grant was created in the 1940s with the idea being a world-class boxer uses his skills to fight crime.

In today's world, our knowledge of fighting arts is much more advanced. Mixed-Martial Arts wasn't a thing yet, so Boxing was the next best thing. But in today's world, just being a Boxer severely limits Ted Grant's crimefighting potential. When realistically he'd be facing people who know exactly how to exploit that style with things that a Boxer has never seen before.

It's a fact that Ted Grant is skilled in other fighting styles too and not just boxing, but I'm wondering if DC should just go ahead and retcon his past, simply change him from an old timey boxer to one of the pioneers of MMA back in the 90s. Then we get a Wildcat who is more up to date with society, and more relevant as a crimefighter.

Arrow should have did this when they briefly introduced the character imo.

For respect he can be an MMA fighter with particularly standout Boxing. That's nothing uncommon.
