A version of Donald Trump will be Batman's pops in The Batman.

According tp Deadline, Alec Baldwin has been added to the cast of Todd Philips' Joker movie, which is scheduled to commence production early next month.

Though Warner Bros. has not confirmed his role, multiple sources are reporting that he'll be playing Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas - although it sounds like the movie will be taking a lot of liberties with the character!

THR mentions that this incarnation of Batman's dear old dad will be portrayed as "a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump" than the patriarch of the Wayne family that was admired by all in the comics.

I think it sounds stupid, but if you’re making a movie where a villain is the (anti) hero or at least a sympathetic antagonist, you have to take liberties to muddy “right” and “wrong”.

If I recall correctly, there was an Ed Koch-looking guy as mayor of Gotham in Batman ‘89. Koch was the real life mayor of New York in the late ‘70’s and 80’s, a time in which the “city that never sleeps” was notoriously crime-ridden. Analogies between art and reality are not unusual.

@Penguin-Dust: gotta be honest. not feeling Thomas Trump. Honestly Trump has been under fire so much here lately this could totally kill this movie if WB is not careful.

I really doubt they would actually go that route with Thomas Wayne, unless the Trump-ish stuff is all in Joker's head and it's just how he sees Wayne.

I’m betting that this movie’s gonna have a twist where Joker is an unreliable narrator. He’s gonna have his origin, then a reveal that it’s partially or completely made up “Usual Suspects” style. It’d fit along with The Killing Joke

That is almost certainly a lie. With all do the controversy around Donald Trump, Warner Bros would never have Donald Trump be the model for Batman's father. Thomas Wayne is almost always potrayed as being intelligent, polite, generous, humble, classy and caring. All things that Donald Trump isn't.
