Logan. I wasn't sad when Caesar died because of what he accomplished at the end of the trilogy...that being the apes being able to finally live in peace.

Pretty much this. I don't think even Caesar himself was sad about his death; he finally succeeded in what he's been trying to do since Rise, and he was ready to face his end.

OT: Neither. I was too busy connecting Caesar to Moses by the end of the third movie. And i just didn't think Logan dying was too sad. The whole connection between Logan and the little girl felt a bit forced. Caesar had been connecting to his people for 3 movies, and i didn't even find his death sad.

@cor_tsar: There's definitely a leading my people out of bondage theme attached to Caeser. He literally does it in the 1st and 3rd movies and explicitly leads them out of the desert in the last.
I wasn't that sad when he died either. Just surprised. I was sitting there like, damn I guess there won't be any more movies.

@kingofwakanda: He also created the rules of the Apes ala the ten commandments. Was adopted and taught by human beings, aka the oppressive pharaoh's. And because of the "sins" he committed wasn't able to actually experience the promised land he brought them to.

Yeah Casear wasn't sad about his death but Logan has gone through 180 yrs of mortal life where more than enough people died in front of him who he care about,so succeeding in saving a young girl's life(not that she was his daughter or he was well connected to her) brought a smile on his face and he was finally able to die in piece by saving her life and achieving one of the most improbable things in his life i.e Death .........
i think everyone should watch this video of Logan.... i have got it from Youtube............

I’ve never seen any of the new Planet of the Apes. I didn’t know Caesar died in them. I probably should have suspected though because I think maybe he died in one of the old Planet of the Apes movies which I have seen albeit decades ago. Long enough that my memory is pretty fuzzy on all but the first and Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
I didn’t find Logan’s death all that sad since it was long promoted as Jackman’s final movie in the role.

@skywalker95: Yes, I have a friend who keeps telling me that. I do plan to see them someday, however I am holding out for the "start" of the series. As I stated earlier, I have seen all of the original Planet of the Apes movies, so for me they start in the future where the Earth is ruled by the apes and humans are one step above cattle. The whole tale of Caesar and the rise of the apes takes place later in the series and involves some wacky time travel. I don't need to see the wacky, but I do want an endgame before committing to the franchise. My friend thinks I am crazy, but for me if Matt Reeves is going to re-do the series, then he can't leave out the most important chapter, Astronaut George Taylor and his discovery. The 2001 remake left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, so that needs to be righted by a better retelling.
Then I want an updated Beneath the Planet of the Apes where everything gets blown to dust. End credits.

@cor_tsar: the director specifically said they were basing caesar off of moses. Like moses he was the means to give wisdom and insight to his people, he led them on an exodus and he didn’t make it into the apes new “promised land” but died once he saw it. Those are way too blatant of similarities to not be intentional

I'm not the only one who noticed this. I'm pretty sure they were attempting to make a parable, but I thought it was just me who peeped it.

I'm not the only one who noticed this. I'm pretty sure they were attempting to make a parable, but I thought it was just me who peeped it.

Wow, that video made me feel pretty much how I felt after seeing Logan the first time. That movie is just so sad.
