Today we are discussing the narrative evolution of the Shinju (God Tree), Juubi (Ten Tails) and Gedo Mazo (Gedo Statue) .

God Seed

The first sign of chakra came from the God Tree seed that landed on Earth, followed by the arrival of the first chakra user Kaguya millennial later. By then, the seed has already grew into a tree and bore a Chakra Fruit. The fruit contains virtually all the natural energy absorbed in the past millennium.

God Tree - 1st Chakra Fruit

After Kaguya consumed it and awakened Rinne Sharingan, she gave birth to Hagoromo and Hamura, whom inherited both the chakra Kaguya originally had (therefore Byakugan) and the chakra obtained from the Chakra Fruit (therefore Sharingan and Rinnegan).

God Tree - 2nd Chakra Fruit

By the time Hagoromo and Hamura grew into teenagers and discover the God Tree, it has already continued draining chakra to having wasted the surrounding lands. An incomplete Chakra Fruit was in development and manifests itself as the eye of the Ancient Ten Tails.

Ancient Ten Tails - 1st Form

The Ten Tails first appeared when the God Tree turned into it when it wanted to protect Kaguya. It's first form has an incomplete Rinne Sharingan, with only 6 tomoe compared to the 9-tomoe Rinne Sharingan obtained by Kaguya having consumed the completed Chakra Fruit.

Ancient Ten Tails - Super Form

In the manga, this form had at least 12 tomoe, suggesting a merged powers from Kaguya's and Ten Tails' Rinne Sharingan.

This form is the only form where Kaguya was not seen separately with it.

The second form was shown for a split second with no explicity explanation, though it's likely the Kaguya merged form because:

Kaguya most likely joined the fight as it lasted for months. Merging with the Ten Tails to fight as one may be a strategy from her.

Ancient Ten Tails - Thin Form (again)

Weirdly, the first time Kaguya was defeated, the Ten Tails were not sealed with her, but instead withered away when Hagoromo released the technique.

Ancient Ten Tails - Fat Form

In the manga, a Rinne Sharingan (figurative or real) is seen behind Hagoromo when he used Creation of All Things technique. Without a Rinne Sharingan himself, he probably made use of the Rinne Sharingan of the Ten Tails itself to help him extract its chakra and create the nine Tailed Beasts, and in the process reawakened the Tailed Beast. This explains why it has a third form.

Bijuu Jinchuriki - Hagoromo

Hagoromo then created nine baby Tailed Beasts from the chakra he extracted and keep them within his body. In the anime, this process might be sped up as it seemingly occurred on the same day as Kaguya's battle. Similarly, Hamura's moving to the Moon is not until much later too.

Hagoromo was not like Madara and Obito that absorbed the Juubi altogether, but more like the complete version of Naruto, being the Jinchuriki of all nine Tailed Beasts. This is why he have never awakened the Rinne Sharingan.

Tailed Beasts

Hagoromo released the young Tailed Beasts to nine different locations right before he dies.

Gedo Mazo - Sealed

The Ten Tails husk left from the extraction trapped in the Moon is called Gedo Statue shown in Naruto: The Last movie.

Gedo Mazo - Flowering Tree

After Madara awakened the Rinnegan near the end of his natural lifespan, he used Outer Path to summon the Gedo Statue as a catalyst to cultivate Hashirama's DNA, producing a non-sentient clone of Hashirama in the form of a gigantic flowering tree.

Half Gedo Mazo

Nagato temporarily formed half a body of a Gedo Statue during the Third Shinobi World War. It disappeared when he fell unconscious, and returned to Madara.

Gedo Mazo - Awakened

When Obito awakened the Gedo Statue to absorb the Tailed Beasts.

New Ten Tails - Fat Form

The Ten Tails was initially revived by Obito using Rinne Rebirth, in an incomplete form similar to the Ancient Ten Tails - Third Form.

New Ten Tails - Thin Form

New Ten Tails - Buff Form

Incomplete Juubi Jinchuriki - Uncontrolled Sage Transformation

Obito absorbs the Ten Tails (except Gyuki and Yang Kurama) and became the Incomplete Juubi, with the right side of his body (that was regrown from Gedo Statue) being scaled. In this form, he only had 2 truth seeking orbs.

Incomplete Juubi Jinchuriki - Controlled Sage Transformation

Obito gains what seems like a cloak, which is similar to what happens after Naruto befriended Kurama. He now has 10 Truth Seeking Orbs, including the "Yang" end of Hagoromo's Six Paths staff in his right hand, likely due to half of his body of Hashirama's cells. The portrutions on his back now wraps around his neck.

Ten Tails - Blooming Flowers

Obito was able to release a small amount of the Ten Tails. It fires Bijuu Bombs not with its mouth but through flowers as a tree.

Ten Tails - 2nd form (again)

Obito dispelled the whole Juubi (together with the Rinne Sharingan) while retaining his Jinchuriki form thanks to the Bijuu chakra within him.

God Tree - Ten Tails Tree form

As it was originally the Gedo Mazo - Flowering Tree when it was absorbed by Obito, it retains its flower when expelled as the God Tree later. The bud of the flower is the Rinne Sharingan.

Juubi Jinchuriki - Tree removed

Obito after expelling the God Tree. He loses his Jinchuriki form once the Tailed Beasts were released.

Neo-Jinchuriki - 7 Tailed Beasts

Tailed Beasts chakra within Naruto.

Gedo Mazo - Half Body

Madara forces the Gedo Statue out of Obito and summoned it to where he was.

Another Ten Tails

After absorbing the Tailed Beasts, Madara transforms it into another Ten Tails, though its form was not visible before Madara absorbs it into his body.

Incomplete Juubi Jinchuriki

Unlike Obito, Madara is oppositely incomplete, having all the 9 Tailed Beasts (including Gyuki and Yang Kurama), but not the God Tree and Rinne Sharingan. His cloak was seen with vaporising chakra just like the soul of Hagoromo, suggesting he lacks "materialism".

Complete Juubi Jinchuriki - God Tree Absorbed

After being cut into half by Naruto, Madara absorbed the Tree Top, including the Rinne Sharingan/flower bud. His cloak is no longer seen with vaporising chakra.

In the anime, the voice calling Madara is Black Zetsu. Though in Ultimate Ninja Storm it was Kaguya.

God Tree Stump

The God Tree stump left in the process was later used to encase everyone with Madara's Jukai Kotan.

Lower Body of Madara

Madara left half of his body Sasuke cut off.

(Half-Awakened Gedo Mazo - Killer Bee's Dream)

In Killer Bee's dream during Infinite Tsukuyomi, the Gedo Mazo was awakened though its eyes were still closed.

Neo-Jinchuriki - 9 Tailed Beasts

Naruto has some chakra of all 9 Tailed Beasts within him that he received after rescuing them from Obito but realised after his encounter with Hagoromo.

Complete Ten Tails - Rabbit Form

The 10-Tails Rabbit takes over when Kaguya loses control. The Rabbit is the main body with Kaguya hidden within.

Complete Ten Tails - Kaguya Form

When Kaguya was being sealed, the rabbit manifests itself as one of Kaguya's tail instead of being the main body.

Kaguya is the main body, with each of the 9 Tailed Beasts being one of its tail and the 10th tail being a rabbit.

Gedo Mazo - Tailed Beasts removed

After the Tailed Beasts were removed and her Rinne Sharingan closed, only Kaguya and the Rabbit were left to be sealed. In the manga, after all the chakra is being extracted, Kaguya's main body reveals herself as the Gedo Statue.
