Does it bother anybody else? I mean sometimes the cover art is symbolic of something that happens in the issue and I get that, but othertimes its the comic book version of clickbait. Like it's flat-out lying to you.

Off the top of your heads, can anyone think of an issue where the cover art was just annoyingly misleading? I'll post a few when I'm not on mobile.

Totally. Also, when cover art gets you excited for the art in story only to discover that the actual art is something else entirely style wise.

JLA issue 29 comes to mind. The cover shows this:

No Caption Provided

Clearly, the reader is expecting Captain Marvel and Superman to throw down with one another. When in reality, this is the "fight":

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

It's nothing more then Billy cheap shotting Superman and exploiting his magic vulnerability.

Pretty misleading cover if I ever saw one

@vertigo-: those are the worst! Thor: God of Thunder #13 has Thor and Malekith locked in what looks like a pretty epic fight on the cover. Their actual encounter was nothing more than some harsh words and threats. They didnt even exchange any sort of blows whatsoever. Just a heated argument in the last couple pages...

Yea I hate it too. It's to the point where, at least for the Big Two, I don't read into the covers for delivering real story hints. Like this infamous one from New 52 Superman that was promising an arc that didn't even end up happening in the very same issue
