Amateratsu isn't strong enough to kill instantly. Remember how it barely burned through Samurai armor? That being Sasukes Amateratsu, but even his is better than Itachi. So Thanos gets hit, it starts to burn him, and then uses the Space Gem to redirect it back to Itacho the same way he did when Iron Man carpet bombed him.

Idk about Genjutsu. Has it been established that it can work outside of the verse?

Can go toe toe with Sage mode Kabuto, who already gets to ridiculous levels of strenght by achieving sage mode alone. You realise one of naruto clones in that mode was capable of fighting third raikage who is massively stronger and faster than thanos.

Sasuke who was far weaker than Itachi was, was capable of fighting Raikage aswell as Bee.

Yes i remember that it was just small hit of amateratsu. I also remember how it easly harmed instantly someone like Raikage who is massively stronger and more durable than thanos. I remember how it burned down 8 tails, jinchuriki in bijuu chakra mode. No thanos will get burned down easly. Not to mention itachi can intesify the fire.

Nope he isnt tanking Izanami, he cant do anything against genjutsu, he cant to do anything against amateratsu, he cant deal with susanoo. He cant deal with Itachis speed which is complete missmatch ctategory. Dies to Yasaka Magatama pretty easly, he cant dodge it and just one of those could easly cut trough chakra chains that could incapacitate Sage mode Kurama avatar with ease and Kurama couldnt break it. But pretty sure you think thanos is stronger than Kurama lmao. Cant believe im even debating this.

Just because he was sick does not mean he cant fight back. In sick state he forced Sasuke to his limits to help him with activating Mangekyo Sharingan. But pretty you think Sasuke isnt match for thanos lol.

He was not drained, he could kill imediately, he was drained because he was almost blind at that point and he wanted to force Sasuke coop with him.

Itachi wouldnt need more than 5 seconds to kill thanos anyway.

Yasaka magatama is justsu from susanoo, same with susanoo. He can use izanagi or izanami alive, he can use genjutsu, amateratsu and everything else he used against kabuto. Fact is EMS sasuke couldnt even match iatchi in any way against Kabuto, while Itachi even weaker than his alive state did all that.

The only one that might be argument about edo tensei is probably amateratsu because it drained him alot. However even if he uses it does not kill him, just makes eyes bleed. However he wouldnt need to use it more than once.

@supermanforever: The problem is that Edo Tensei is unlimited chakra and stamina. Jutsus that would normally drain Itachi more than necessary and would have negative effects (like Susanoo) are now completely available. Sasuke describes Susanoo as an excruciating pain but it is obviously not a factor when in Edo.

Also, measuring Itachi is difficult.

We never see him in his prime. Part 1 Itachi could be weaker than Part 2 (Kakashi Manages to improve a lot for example). Alive Itachi doesn't really have fights and his only prolonged fight was when he was sick (which according to Zetsu it seemed like he wasn't fighting at his full potential).

And that's the problem with Itachi. We never see him lose or gets his ass kicked. The only time he "loses" turned out to be a staged fight for Sasuke. So we never get to use a reference point for his power.

Which is why people tend to measure his Edo feats with equivalent relevance to when he was alive. They shouldn't because alive Itachi probably wouldn't be able to keep up with KCM (even though Naruto had made like 1000 clones by then, was fairly inexperienced with the mode, and wasn't really trying) OR use his MS abilities as freely as people want him to.

Alive Itachi probably has a hard time even using Susanoo because of its toll on the body and his average chakra levels.

Knowing Itachi, he'd use Totsuka Blade. That's the only method he could use and probably think of in this current situation. So unless Thanos reverses time, he's gonna be defeated. It doesn't even matter if Thanos has better stats or if Itachi is sick, it all comes down to if Thanos either evades Totsuka Blade or reverses time.

Sick Itachi stomps. Genjutsu GG, amateratsu GG, Totsuka GG, etc.
