Error when connecting to HBase Thrift server

0

I have a Thrift server running on HBase and I want to connect from R using the package RHBase.
The R code is:

require(rhbase)
hostLoc = '192....' # IP
port = 9090 # Default port for thrift service

hb.init(hostLoc, port)
hb.list.tables()

When I execute this code I have the following answer:

"Error in hb.list.tables() : rhbase:: No more data to read."

Does anyone know how to fix?
Do you have any suggestion how to connect R directly to HBase?

Thank you.
